Imagine a day when it rained. What happened before that? Maybe you heard thunder, or, most likely you saw the sky and said, "It's dark. It's going to rain. I am a genius."
Well, that doesn't happen in Minecraft. You're happily enjoying punching wood under a clear sky, and, all of a sudden, BOOM! It starts raining.
I think that a few minutes before it starts raining, the sky gradually darkens. In the time it takes to reach light level 12 (or whatever it reduces the light level to), there is a random chance that it'll start raining. For thunderstorms, you will hear distant thunder, and as it gets closer, the sky darkens.
yes you would notice at night cos of the thunder and lightining
the screen would flash and there would be ambiemt thunder noises
Well, not the screen. If you were underground, and there was thunder, your eyes wouldn't be blinded by some light. The clouds themselves would flash! Imagine the looks on the faces of players!

Snow has the same effects as rain.
Thanks!
Can you see the dark clouds at night time? I mean, in real life? It'll get darker, but you won't really be able to see it.
Yeah...that's what I mean, man!
Yes, more clouds.

Make Minecraft as realistic, yet as fictional, as possible, my friend. Endermen FTW.
Right...yeah.
