Many players would like to play with just their friends without the hassle of having to buy a server, then set it up and pay for a high speed connection or rent a server. I have a solution that does not involve the use of servers, Survival Co-op. Survival Co-op would allow for a small group of players to play on their own world.
Features:
-Button in main menu that says "Co-op", in between the "Singleplayer" and "Multiplayer" buttons.
-No servers required, all changes made by a player are sent to the other players.
-Once a Co-op world is loaded, it is stored on the hard drive.
-Maximum of 4 players
-A player can create a Co-op mode much like they create a Singleplayer world by entering a name and a seed.
-Chat is enabled.
-PVP is enabled.
-Nether is enabled.
-Invitations are required to join. Once invited, that player may join whenever the like.
-To invite a player use the command /invite <name> in the chat prompt. Only three invites are allowed per world.
So what you're saying is that so we don't have to host our own servers for free and unlimited players, we'll have Mojang host millions of other servers instead?

Did my post help you? If it did, clicking the little green plus sign in the bottom right corner would help.
I always thought Minecraft needed Co-op. Although, I will be honest, I did think Singleplayer worlds could be uploaded onto Multiplayer (Took me forever to finally find out it's not pissible unless you do it a certain way). But yeah [Considering I know nothing about the certain bugs on the internet], I do think this is a good idea.
I posted an exact same idea like this! I had this genius idea of how we could have multi-player for only a few people, without the need for a server
It works by linking 1 minecraft world with up to 5 others, so to solve the problem of preventing sever lag or having notch host millions of spam or junk servers, it would act like single player, each player woudl host part of or the entire chunk they are on likme in single player, they coudl see other players and what they are doing n such, but it wont cause sever lag and computers could easily link together.
I might make you a picture of my idea as people dont really understand what I mean usally...
EDIT!: here it is!
Ok the red dots are players, the brown and green are the world, and the yelow is the loaded area (Chunks)
as you see the left is a server, were EVERYTHING is loaded, the right is my proposed idea ONLY load the chunks players are on.

I already knew what you meant but this will be helpful for "simpler" players to understand.

You don't need a server if there are only *cough* four *cough* clients. Just keep reading.
Two clients can just send data back and forth. Like I said before, keep on reading.
sounds ok to me.
Similar but on a global scale. :tongue.gif:
So like a mini server?
Not exactly, instead of client 1 to server to client 2, like Multiplayer is right now, it would be client 1 to client 2. No servers required.
