Hurricanes could smash in windows and break down torches and trees. Not all of course but you know. And they should drag items with them (as well as a cow :tongue.gif:)
how do you protect a home from a hurricane? Don't build near the beach!
How do you protect a home from floods? don't build on a flood plane.
How do you protect your house from Forest Fires? don't build it near a forest.
but yea.. Thunder storms..
been struck by lightning yet?
do something stupid, like dress up in metal armor, and run around swingings a iron sword in the storm, in high places.. see if you get zapped.
if not.. maybe that should be possible..
lightning strike generated close enough to player.. and he's wearing metal stuff, the more, the more likely .. BBBBBZZZzzZZZzzTT!
you see the rain start to fall, you hear thunder in the distance.. time to build a shack or dig?
should I take shelter during the storm? or soldier on and hope i don't get zapped? not wearing my metal armor am I? highly conductive Copper Armor? uh oh...
shoot an Iron Arrow into a creeper .. then wait .. BZZZtt BOOM!
could be fun.. could get zapped.. but interesting thought...
snow?
Tornado, Hurricane (rare these should be, affecting the weaker substances , wood, dirt, glass, and things like trees...)
oh yea.. i found a way to protect your house from creepers.. build it IN the water.. deep under the water .. creepers float!

edit:
if you wanted the storm wind to do damage...
the storm is the visual and audio illusion, so it doesn't tear things up.. use 1 or two invisible blocks the storm spins gradually through it, collision blocks, that occassionally (periodically) check their location, and affect a block. if it's a tree, it could then uproot the tree and take it with it and throw it...
if it was a dirt block, it could destroy it.. if it's stone, it's probably safe from affect.. etc.
the more intense the storm, the more collision blocks you use..
collision block hits a creature.. whoosh! have a nice flight! .. you DID hide from it.. didn't you?
collision block spawned at it's funnel base.. and circles out of it in the spiral you would expect it to be, and repeats.
hurricanes die off when they hit land, tornadoes are finnicky transitioning over water., but that's real life, this is a game, make it interesting and simple in it's implementtion, and you got a gem.
This would be *okay* if you went into a bit more detail and re-formatted the original post.
I think it'd be cool to worry about things other than monsters, especially when I can just sit in any house and avoid them.

What about Hurricains and Blizzards
There basicly 2 levels of wether
Level1-Rain, Snow
Level2-Thunderstorm
Hurricains and Blizzards will be the level3
Effects of Hurricains-
-Will be as dark as thunderstorms
-Major rain (might limit visibility)
-20%-45% chance of flooding (if water phisycs change)
-Thunder/Lightning
-Major fish
-Might hydrate dirt/farmland
Effects of Blizzards-
-More deeper snow (could give more snow balls)
-Thunder/Lightning
-Moajor Snow
-May limit visibility
-Torches maynot be able to melt snow or ice
Oh ok i was worried ppl would complain
Strong meterial
Dirt,Sand,Glass will break and the foundation would be important for example
you floor is obsidian but house is wooden the house will not break because the foundation is strong
Leaves will break too
Also it depends on dirrection of storm for example
its hit west and obsidian is in the east you house will still be safe
Wood would be a BIG IF it can break but also can't wood is like a BIG BET
How do you protect a home from floods? don't build on a flood plane.
How do you protect your house from Forest Fires? don't build it near a forest.
