I have always imagined my character in a dynamic pose wielding a powered up piece of equipment, and out of that came these two ideas-
Pose Menu-
A selection of fully animated actions and poses to gloat, cower, laugh, rant, stomp, etc.
It would definitely add a feel to SMP and make it not feel like I'm surrounded by robots, a big issue.
Also, the default animations could be tuned up too.
Special Gear-
This would be awesome. Choose your proficiency- Woodcutting, Shelter, Mining, Melee, Ranged, or Charged. (Redstone)
Basically, the piece of Special Gear that came with each proficiency would up the ante in the game, with a once a real life day charge-up time. You would get a piece of equipment that could be retextured like you character that would unleash powers when activated. Each piece of gear would be strapped to your back until you used it. So here's an explanation-
Woodcutting- (Tool is an axe retextured by the player.) When activated, it would chop down every piece of non-man affected wood (I'm assuming it would check logs or something to make sure no one put it there.) within a 10-block radius.
Sheltering- (Tool is a tent bag retextured by the player) When activated, (only at night) it builds a non-breakable dirt shelter with torches. (The player cannot do anything to this but open the door, so they don't get free items.)It dissapears when daylight comes.
Mining- (Tool is a pickaxe retextured by the player)Drills a large hole down to bedrock with spiral stairs going downwards. Turns lava into obsidian and water into dirt. If there is any ore in the way, however, it will dissapear like the rest of the blocks, so this can backfire.
Melee- (retextured sword) Player enters beserk mode- players or mobs in the area are slowed down and the character can target up to 5 players/mobs in a row and perform a dash attack. To make this balanced, it has a chance of killing them instantly OR being parried- resulting in a half-health drain on you.
Ranged- (retextured bow) Player enters beserk mode, and selects five targets while zoomed in. Fires Creeper Arrows (explosive power!). Like Melee, it has a half-chance of being reflected- however, you can dodge with a correct button-time sequence.
Charged- (retextured redstone torch) Player fires a bolt of electricity that can charge water for up to a minute, making the only way to traverse it during that time by boat.
