I am thinking of something that should be in minecraft (my opinion). It would be called a "Generator". To make one you must put 3 cobblestone on top, a crafting table in the middle, dispensers on the side, and 3 cobblestone on the bottom.
It will help a lot to make obsidian easier.
Heres a picture of how you would craft it:
Heres how you would make obsidian:
The idea for the obsidian is to mix lava and water to make a little obsidian farm in 1 block.
I will be making more ideas that this can generate. I will try to make items that dont exist that this would generate.
If you have an idea what this could also generate, leave a comment!
I fail to see the necessity of the generator. It's not that hard to make two dispensers.
It's not overpowered since you can mold obsidian (which doesn't require diamonds either). Hence it only saves a bit of walking time. Just combine the two buckets on a regular workbench.
Support the Allocator! Find my inventions such as my pressure plate removal detector on the About Me page of my profile.
I'm still looking for more feedback on my configurable Redstone Gate mod. All gates and common circuits (such as e.g. clocks, edge detectors, latches and Flip-Flops) in a single block.
Perhap's mention it in the mod idea's, or mod requests sections and someone can make it up for you, but I doubt we will see it in the main game (In fact in one tweet a while ago I believe Notch mentioned that he felt the current way to get "infini" obsidian was OP and would need to be changed at some point, this only makes that process faster).
The concept might not be the best, but I think that is generaly the right direction. Maybe not necessarily metal+metal alloys, but how about mixing the more unusual or rare components of minecraft? In the Lighting rod thread I put some ideas of materials transformed by lighting, maybe the materials could be transformed by the generator? we could mix different ores, dusts and materials and get more variety.
perhaps you could mix a map and a book to make a book 'o' maps
lol, that actually sounds pratical, I hate to have my maps occupying so many slots.
I think I got the best/more-pratical idea: Dye + Stuff = Colored Stuff. The main use would probably be to create colored glass, but any odd number of colored materials and itens would do.

What if you combined a shovel with an ax and get a hybrid that can chop trees and dig blocks? Just a suggestion.
Misadventures of Ike!
I can already see how OP that's going to be.
Diamond+Diamond=Diamond Hybrid
Diamond Hybrid+Diamond Hybrid= Better DH
Better DH+ Better DH= EVEN BDH
EVEN BDH+ EVEN BDH= ChuckNorrisDH
ChuckNorrisDH+ChuckNorrisDH= Impossible!
