I was thinking since a version of Minecraft is coming to the Xbox 360 could the PC version get some kind of support for controllers? I want to be able to use my Xbox 360 controller to play Minecraft on the PC with button mapping and such like many PC games have. Having the option to play with a keyboard and mouse or a controller would be wonderful I feel. This may sound strange but I just feel more comfortable holding a controller than fumbling around with a keyboard and mouse, this could give me the confidence to go down that deep dark cave or fight the hoards of zombies and skeletons that as of now I feel nervous and down right scared about. Thoughts?
Not really. I use my Belkin nostromo n52te to do stuff just because I can. It is a bit more comfortable than a keyboard and use autohotkey to assist me.
Use a program called Joy2Key. It's completely free and I use it almost every time I play Minecraft. You just plug in the controller and use the program to map you mouse and keyboard buttons to the controller.
People who down using a controller have never tried it. Minecraft plays flawlessly on a controller.
FYI it needs to be a wired Xbox 360 controller. The plug and play charge wire will not work. If it's a wireless controller, you need a special receiver for it.
EDIT: sorry it's not free anymore i double checked for you but it's 10.00$ usd
not really 13 buttons [including d-pad and analog click]
left stick = wsda
right stick = mouse movement
with my set up i have two buttons i never use because i have nothing too assign
EDIT: 14 buttons

Haha, this is why I use Logitech.
