Talents dont just have to be combat. I think everyone should be able to spec one of three ways, and each tree will have 3 subtrees. To be used with a mod that has hunger, thirst, and fatigue (I have this hunger, thirst, fatigue mod currently its awesome):
Survival-
-Stamina: +health, less food required, less drink required, etc
-Tracking: minimap, compass, less fatigue, minimap animal tracking, +runspeed, +boatspeed etc
-Stealth: camo, traps, etc
Harvesting-
-Surface: +lumber harvesting, etc
-Underground: faster mining, less durability lost, torches last longer, etc
-Farming: more crops harvested, less time to harvest, etc
I have a lot of experience programming in java, c++, ruby, etc, and am planning on creating a mod with these changes. I have been looking in the source files and am slowly figuring out how everything works. If anyone has any suggestions or tips on how to do this to get me started it would be greatly appreciated.
I don't even like the idea, but I'm going to go ahead and give you props for attempting to implement it yourself, rather than saying that Notch should.
