Well, another idea I had long ago. I come up with an idea and think about it for a while. I think I've perfected it now.
My idea is: The clay pot.
The stone is a clay ball. This would give you a raw clay pot.
To get a useable pot, this would need to be put in a furnace. You would then get a "clay pot".
You can then put dirt in the clay pot, like how a slime ball goes over a piston, for a pot filled with dirt.
Upon placing the pot, you can place dandelions and roses in the pots. Over time, they would turn into bushes. Punching these bushes would drop 1-3 of their original flower. These could be used in flower farming. Also, if you leave it in bush farm, it can make a very nice decoration. You could also place a sapling in it for a potted shrub, or a cacti for a small potted cacti. The cacti could produce a flower every so often, which would drop a flower that you can craft into pink, magenta, or purple dye. Whichever color the flower is.
This would make an even larger variety of farms. 1.8 will have more, but this is even more.
I know you could bonemeal grass for flowers, but bushes would make better decoration than just a single flower.
So yeah. A few more ideas involving decoration and farming. Not too hard to explain, and would be a balanced farming method.
This has been already suggested, that is true. Also, you can already get flowers using bonemeal but this is a neat (and pretty) alternative.
