Currently hostile mobs are mindless though dogged in their pursuit of the Player. However, there are times at which this simple method breaks down. Take the Skeleton Archer, for instance. If fired upon it will make little effort to avoid the incoming arrow fire. This should change to reflect its sense of self-preservation.
If fired upon and adjacent to a block that is between itself and the player, the skeleton archer should hide behind that block in a crouching stance. This would allow the player to escape larger groups of enemies by firing upon their general area. This effect would work both ways, however. If a skeleton's arrow whizzes by the player, then a vignette effect will appear and then subside over time. This will cause the player to seek cover as well, and lead to more protracted firefights.
This idea would be an improvement to the current spray-and-pray method of dealing with enemies by providing an element of tactics sorely lacking in Minecraft.
interesting idea. could get annoying in some sittuations though, such as if your trying to run from cover to cover through a hail of arrows and the impulse action will cause you to always inavetiidly jump back to your old cover...
As was said directly above me, inevitably dodging things would get a bit annoying. So if only the mobs dove behind objects and it was up to the player to avoid incoming missles, it would be much more "interactive"

I definitely think it should only affect mobs, and then only the smarter ones. Creepers, Skeletons, and Endermen.

Just my opinion though.
no, it doesn't blind you. it's just a black ring around the edges of your screen. And, FYI, all mobs make me nearly pee myself.
to OP. Have you been watching battlefield 3 videos lately?
