Well, I was thinking about trees and such, and I thought that it wasn't enough.
I have many ideas that would increase decoration, natural structures, and more.
Idea number 1: Redwood trees.
Is there anyone who hasn't heard of the Redwood trees: Those things are goddamn MASSIVE. Finding these in the natural world would be rare, yet rewarding. Maybe only in snow biomes and only 1 or 2 in the whole thing. These would have TONS of log in them. I mean TONS. If you break their leaves, they drop normal pines, because planting a giant redwood would be VERY overpowered to the point of stupidity.
The outside of redwood trees would be redwood log. Called "wood" like the rest of the logs. The inside would be "Raw Wood". Pretty much a log but without the bark, to make it more realistic about the inside of a tree. It wouldn't have bark, obviously. Both redwood log and raw wood will be the same as current logs involving the crafting menu. Redwood log would be like oak, but with a red tint to it.
These would be good for nice treehouses too, a large tree, big enough for a large house, and enough wood inside to gut it out and place ladders.
Idea number 2: Changing log placement.
Placing a log only faces upward. However, if it makes the "top" face towards you, then a larger variety of structures can be made, as well as look less ugly, even. Shrubs with leaf blocks sometimes look odd with the log top visible, and it would look more pleasing if it were the side of the log, with the side facing upward..
Idea number 3: Using the above idea in randomly generated natural structures.
Nobody can resist walking over a river along a log bridge, can they? With the above idea added, it could be in natural structures, like log bridges over rivers, probably in swamp biomes. Also, horizontal logs could also be generated on larger trees, like large oaks and redwoods, to be used as better looking branches and even as roots.
Idea number 4: Palm trees.
These trees would generate by beaches. Their logs would have a palm tree-like texture, and their leaves would be positioned in a + shaped pattern away from the log. Palm trees sometimes generate with bananas. Banana blocks would have bananas on all sides, and when broken would drop 2 = 4 bananas. Bananas can be eaten as normal for a half a heart each or used in palm tree farming for a banana palm. They can also generate coconut bunches. Coconut blocks have a coconut texture on all sides, and drop 1 - 3 coconuts. Coconuts can be thrown like snowballs and eggs, but deal a half heart of damage. When combining a coconut and a reed/sugar cane, the coconut in one corner and the reed/sugar cane in the opposite corner (much like crafting a flint and steel), you would get a coconut with a straw, that you can sip the coconut juice out of for a half a heart coconut. Coconuts would also aid in palm tree farming, but these produce coconuts instead of bananas. Palm log is more blast resistant to other log. Because of hurricanes and such, palm trees are BUILT to survive the storm. Strong and flexible log. Minecraft explosions would be like strong winds, where they might break some log, but not as much as other logs. Oh, this was a big addition.
Idea number 5: The dead tree.
These trees would generate in deserts. They are pretty much large versions of dead shrubs. The log is basic oak log with a gray-brown coloration to it, and the leaves are brown in color. Breaking a leaf or removing all the log would make the leaves have a chance of dropping a dead shrub. The shrub can be used in house decoration or put in the crafting box for 2 sticks. The log would be dry. It's dead and in a desert, so using them in the furnace as fuel would be better than the log we have now, which is damp from being recently alive. not as good as coal, but better than log. It may be called "dead wood". Using dead log in building would give a more grim appearance. This would also be a simple and logical way to obtain dead shrubs. The saplings the tree would have dropped before are now dead, so the leaves drop dead shrubs instead of saplings.
This concludes all my ideas involving log. I wish for much support. I love log, and would love to see these added into the game.
VERY VERY nice ideas i've seen mods like this there are youtube hitts all over and the mod also adds more 'realistic' blocks like iron fences and half blox that face up, not not down ^^ but again very nice :smile.gif:
I like this idea. It adds more options for building with logs. I especially like the redwood idea. I have always wanted to find a large tree to build a house in, but I would have to make my unnatural looking one.
An alternative though would be just having large trees generated every so often. Possible every 200 or so chunks. That would be epic.

Yes, that's a good alternative. Either the redwoods being added or large trees would be a good addition for treehouses or lots of log.
