Suggestion: When fishing in a body of water that has a netherrack bottom - meaning your bobber is over netherrack with only water between them - you will collect Fish-bones.
Crafting 1 "Fish-bones" will create 1 bonemeal.
Purpose; an alternate way of getting bonemeal
Why; Bonemeal a resource that is useful, in two different amounts:
1) In small amounts - When you need to grow a few things very quickly.
2) Large amounts - Decorating a landscape.
I think that there should be a way for a developed player to get that small amount really quickly, while also allowing the people who want an enormous amount of it, to build their mob-traps and go after skeletons.
It's not very necessary at all like you said, but I guess it would allow players to legitimately acquire bonemeal on peaceful difficulty.

It would be hard to actually get the bones, as fishing in a 1 block deep area is difficult as most of the time, the bobber get's stuck in the block. It also doesn't really make much sense, as I doubt that netherrack is made out of bones.

I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to death, Nor known to life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works

It can be however deep you want. It just works when the seafloor below the bobber is netherrack..
As for the mythology behind it.. I was originally going to suggest that netherrack "corrupt" water in a way that makes it red and have a bunch of strange properties.. one of which is to create fishbones.. (others being, being able to place it in the nether, vaporizes when in contact with lava, creates redstone charge... blablabla) But then i realized that that would have been a pointless waste of processing power so I just cut it down to the actually function.

Ok, now I understand. I kinda like the idea of the netherrack corrupting the water, and getting bones from that (which will kill the fish, producing fishbones). It seems a nice alternative to killing skeles.

Importance: Not very.
Thoughts?
