You Mean MP Military police?
and thank you for bringing up that point
ive been thinking about a village wall that you could build which the guard towers could be built onto so your acrhers can attack enemys, This woudl also add the need for....SEIGE ENGINES
Behold my trebuchetes! (I know I mispelled it :X)
Though I think the village guars should be like 100% loyal, as it would ruin the fun if I could just bribe them with my richs of gold...and now I need to work on some combat systems so you could command your soldiers to attack the enemy villages!

this idea is 100% awsome. it needs a support banner

however, notch got the inspiration copied the idea for the npc villages from millenaire. and noone actualy knows what the npc villages are going to be like, for all we know, they could be exactly like this.
what I really want to know is what are the npc villages going to do on multiplayer where they will be running around 24/7, and there will be alot of players to interact with them, I hope it's not just dissabled in multiplayer.
the one thing that you should probably remove is the different ages, steampunk, electric and laser, as minecraft takes place over the lifespan of 1 person, and a minecarft year only happens after over 120 hours, meaning that a village should only ever stay in one age
Milenaire came long after Michael Lousisseize (a Mojang employe) suggested Pigman villages on GetSatisfaction.
No! No creating villages! You aren't some god, and the mine craft world ain't your sandbox! You need to be just another person on the earth, looking to buy and sell. Being able to spawn buildings with wands is not only completely unrealistic, but makes you out to be some master controller being.

I think he's saying that instead of instant buildings being made, the wand tells villagers to make a house, shop, etc.

Even so, you are spawning and controlling these sentient beings like you are their lord and master, and I think that is to much power for someone in a game where you are just a single, normal person in a fantastical world.
you shoild be able to bribe the guard so you can seize control of the villiage (a militairy coup, kinda) and do watever you want with it turn the villagers into your mindless slaves and have them build factorys and huge mines so you can build yourself an army and take over more villiages! abd also make you fabulously rich!!!
The wand is only to set an invisible marker to were your vilagers will build a building or upgrade the buidling of that type, they also need all the resources to start building or upgrading, it would be too overpowerd if you could just spawn a milion buidings with the wand for free, and the costs are heavy so you have to spend at least some time in minecraft before you can start a village
Cant you be human and just say OVERPOWERD?
and how is it overpowerd? you have to have the resources to build the buidling or yoru vilagers will look at you like yoru an idiot (Literally the builder will walk up to you and stare at you like a chiken or sheep or cow, they all look at you stupid)

How most towns started like that, someone started a farm or something, then someone else came along and liked the area they joined in, then another and another and another, and the Town hall wand only works once and thats the only time you can spawn settlers.

dont get me wrong, the idea is cool, but i dont like the idea of you being in complete control of their lives. now, i'd have no problem with you being able to set down a new village for them to inhabit, but only if you have maximum influence with them.
Yes achaully when I was making the thread I was thinking it could be like in millenaire were the type of block you start a village on influences what village type it is (and how it looks) (Like dirt is an agri village, stone is a mining village, Iron is a military village) which would be pretty great
and I also set it so you couldent just start minecraft then imidiatly make a village, youd have to find a village, Trade with them and become there freinds, buy a village wand, gather LOTS of wood and other resources, Start village, Manage village, protect village, Collect Pork, Make anothe village, Create Earth, Etc etc etc
and I just thoguht abotu this to increase the managing dificulty a little, You have to feed your village, so each day every villager eats 1 Pork, or 1/3 (1/2?) Bread, or 1 Chicken wing (New food >:biggrin.gif:), or 1 Beef (another new food!)
meaning that when you start you have to feed your villagers and manage there food supply, otherwise they starve to death and thats not good for your village

I agree you should have to feed them.

i dont want to have to babysit my villages, they should be able to feed themselves if they have built a farm (which should be one of the first buildings that they build). i wouldnt mind feeding them as they wait for their farm to be constructed. now, if you read the link that i posted, you'd see that i suggested that the villages have personalities, and one of them would be agriculture. those villages would never need to be fed, for they would have a farm from the start.
as the village grows, the farm should have to be upgraded to support more people.
Yes my point is you ahve to provide them with food till they can suport themselves
and the you also need to manage the village to make sure they are making enuff food with there curent farms

Perhaps another game mode? "colony mode"? Where you start with a few villagers and try to become as powerful as possible by growing towns and trade routes. At first the player would have to gather resources, but later the player could get resources as "taxes". Eventually the player could install mayors in the towns which would allow the town to grow without the player (but a considerable chunk of taxes would go to the mayor).
It would be helpful for Minecraft to have game modes for popular types of games, still keeping with the Minecraft theme, like how adventure mode is RPG styled without being a full-blown RPG and still allowing the player to be creative.
How most towns started like that, someone started a farm or something, then someone else came along and liked the area they joined in, then another and another and another, and the Town hall wand only works once and thats the only time you can spawn settlers.
That's not what you're suggesting! You're saying that they all spawn at once and decide to make their houses, farms, stores and buildings exactly where you want them to.
I'd much rather have a mode where the player has no special power. Instead, they would have someway to show that they want to create a village, and over time people would come along, look at you, decide if they want to stop, and if they do, build a house. Slowly, over time, with the player having no control over when and where, more people would come and set up houses and shops. That's the only way I'd be okay with letting the player make a village.

That might be better. The player starting with nothing and becoming powerful by finding villagers/villagers finding them has a more Minecraft-like feel. Although, why shouldn't the player have control over the village? What's the point of setting up a village where there is no power given to the player for doing so, when the player could just find another village and shop there? Colony mode would have to give the player control over the village they create, or else there wouldn't be a point to having a separate mode. They wouldn't have to have complete control, for example the player could tell a villager to be a house builder and the villager would chose what house plans to use (there would be different kinds of houses to keep villages from being boring) and possibly where to build it.

i had some similar ideas when it comes to how villages should operate, you should check them out, we may be able to work something out that Notch would agree on. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/539649-npc-village-discussion-thread/
