Just wondering how the community felt about ocean biomes.
Currently, large bodies of water in the game are rather rare. An ocean biome would allow larger bodies of water.
My Idea:
___
As any other biome, ocean biomes would have its own type of foliage and terrain. Palm trees could be a new tree addition and the terrain color could be either a deep green color or a sandy yellow color.
Ocean biomes would be mainly large bodies of water, and would be the largest biome in the game. When approaching land, a flat strand of sand about 4 blocks inland until a sheer dirt ridge forms to the higher elevations, as with real beaches. This allows for smooth, long, thick sand barriers between the ocean biomes and dry land. (Keep in mind, the effect would only apply to land intersecting ocean biomes, so current water/land relationships will remain as they are.)
Islands could also be a unique addition, consisting of small sand bars and the traditional round variety. Islands could scale from sizes of about 10x10 blocks or 40x40 blocks in diameter, and a maximum elevation of 8 blocks, with the top sections consisting of a sparse amount of palm trees and clustered tall grass.
