Hello, everyone! I'd like to introduce a relatively simple idea that might make exploring the in the Nether or deep in caves slightly more interesting.
Seeping Lava
The basic idea is that lava would be able to corrode most blocks below it and seep down into any open space directly below the corroded block. Now, this effect would be much like rain, but red and with a small chance to set any mob walking under it on fire.
I'm thinking that this would occur naturally in the Nether, like rain in the overworld. Seeping lava would make any pools of lava five or so blocks taller over the course of a minute or two, with a chance to light mobs or Netherrack on fire when they pass directly under it.
However, this might also happen deep underground, when you dig directly below lava. Something like this:
L
C
T
L = Lava
C = Cobblestone
T = The tunnel you're digging
Would cause random showers of Seeping Lava, with a 20% chance of lava to seep down every minute (75% chance if it is Mossy Cobblestone, 50% if dirt). Remember that the lavaflow would not actually spread into your tunnel, but simply have a chance of causing you to catch on fire or to indicate that you are tunneling under lava. If you dug directly up into a lava flow, lava might seep down for a second and then the actual flow would start flooding in at a slightly faster speed than now; slow enough for you to run, but fast enough to make you worried.
Seeping Lava would 'Corrupt' any blocks it seeps through or onto, turning Moss Stone into regular Cobblestone, destroying Grass, and making every block it touches 20% easier to mine while it seeps and for thirty seconds after it seeps (Making iron able to break Obsidian for a short amount of time.
The only blocks that lava cannot seep through are:
Any block of iron, gold, etc.
Obsidian (although it would make Obsidian easier to mine, see above)
Bedrock
Diamond Ore
Tell me what you think! Constructive criticism is welcomed, flaming is frowned upon. If you don't like the idea, ignore the thread.
If you don't like the thread but aren't going to flame, do I still have to ignore it? Criticism only happens if people don't like the idea and have ways to improve it. I do like it, however.
Deserves2live: Are you talking about how I said the seeping lava would raise the lava level? Simple solution: Lava slowly goes back to its original height after the lava seep ends.
Remember, the seeping lava in the overworld would only have a small (10-15%) chance of you catching on fire, and then only for a few seconds perhaps. It would mainly be a warning that digging up would result in a huge lavaflow flooding your tunnel.

Although that might not be a bad thing....other than that, i do kind of like it...ads dangers to the world
Sounds scary - would make mining...tougher
