I know this has been suggested before, but I have some different ideas about it.
Every 15 days in Minecraft, it switches seasons (gradual change, but it's definite by the end). In winter, days would be shorter and nights longer, crops wouldn't grow, and plants would die (black or gray plants or leaves, brown grass). It would snow everywhere but deserts, and water would freeze. Less passive mobs would spawn, simulating the lack of food. Winter would be the "harsh" season.
In spring, snow disappears, day and night assumes the normal time, and plants become very green. Passive mob spawn rate returns to normal. It rains a lot. In the taiga, snow goes away. In the tundra, snow stays, but it doesn't snow there anymore.
In summer, it rains little but thunderstorms often. Crops grow much faster. Plants return to normal color. There are many passive mobs. Days become longer and nights shorter. The snow in the tundra goes away. Summer would be the "easy" season, apart from a lot of thunderstorms.
In fall, plants start to die (browner grass, plants start turning orange and brown). Passive mobs gradually start to "move away" or "hibernate" (less and less every day). Maybe wheat drops more, like the Seasons mod. Days and nights return to normal. It starts snowing again in the taiga and tundra biomes.
Maybe in Hard mode there would be an "exposure" hazard, so in the tundra and taiga during winter, if you aren't wearing leather or wool? armor of some kind (for warmth) you take half a heart damage every minute you remain in the area. In summer, you take half a heart damage for every minute you stay in the desert without shade (light level > 10).
This is a lot like the seasons mod, but it's a bit different and I think it should be added to the game.

Anyway, here it is:

I know. I'm suggesting that it be tweaked a bit and added to the vanilla game.

Go read that before you post anything else ever again.
Now as for the topic...
Seasons would be alright by me so long as they didn't change gameplay too much. OR if they did, then they only did so in Hardcore mode.
