First of all, there needs to be more music discs in minecraft.
Now the Jukebox needs to have several slots on the top. Not just the one. And it should work similarly to a dispenser (in that you can open it for inventory sections).
The sections should be labelled 1-4 (or 8. Or however many) and the music discs inserted in the order the player wants them to be played.
The music box should then always be attached to a lever or button or some kind of switch that the player can activate for "On" and "Off". Set to "On" the Jukebox should just rotate through those music discs and play them in order. Set to "Off" it should just sit there and be a good little jukebox.
Maybe in the inventory it'll have a button for "Randomize".

The second idea is great.
However Notch even said himself he will be adding more discs later
This can be fixed crazy easily, you can get your own music files. Go to the code, duplicate one of the record code files. Name it something different. And replace the part of code with direction to the minecraft music file to the one you want in. For the slots, this can be very much simplyfied. Go the the jukebox recepie code file and make the return not 1 but like 4 so everytime you make it you get 4 jukeboxes. I can do this, so can you. Hope you have fun, if you need help check out GamerzBuzz on youtube, he helped me alot. You can get the jist of modding very easily. Hope I helped.
I really LOVE this idea. Especially how you should be able to turn the Jukebox on/off... I just have to say something about having more music. This would be a bit hard because we don't know what people want. It will be hard just to make it. Also, we won't have it until a while.
Ok so more music is coming, that's good. I really liked the green disc. Haven't found the gold one yet. But I figure if they add more, then they should add a Jukebox that actually works like a Jukebox, and not a Walkman.
