To get Ruby's u would need to Cook Redstone in some new special way i relly have no idea how but that will give u rubys and it will be as fast as iron and as strong as diamond because redstone is relly common
Sapphires will be cooked the same as rubys and will be cooked with lapris lazul (sorry if spelled wrong). Sapphire tools will be as fast as Gold and as strong as stone because lapris lazul is slitly more rare than redstone
Emeralds have me stumped because green dye isnt found in the ground its found in cactus and that would just seem wierd to get something like emerald from cactus...but emeralds will be as fast as diamond and as strong as iron...
Ruby's, Sapphires and Emeralds can also be used as decorative torches that emit different colerd lighting
(idea): what if emeralds can be cooked from high concentrated amounts of mossy cobble stone...hmmmmm
I feel it would be nice to have more minerals and such in the vanilla game though I would prefer they come in the form of ores which would be obtainable while mining just like coal, iron, diamond, etc.. Before one could use them they would have to be processed in a gem tumbler, much like iron in a furnace. Then they could be added as pendants, rings, etc. like armor is equipped to the player. They could do things like enable the player to jump an extra block perhaps with a cool down period, hold ones breath for a longer period of time, be able to walk faster for a given interval, or something else more witty.
Addition: The minerals could even be rare like diamonds, for it would give a lot more excitement when finding them and the abilities wouldn't be taken for granted since the items would decay after usage and the players would have to find more of the necessary mineral.
