There should be three new difficulties in Beta/SMP. Easy-Horde, Normal-Horde, and Hard-Horde. Horde gameplay is the same as normal, with one crucial difference. The hostile mob spawn rate is WAY higher. I mean that instead of perhaps 2 or 3 monsters attacking you at night, you get upwards of 20. The fist minecraft day, there would be no monsters, to give the player time to find a shelter location and hunker down. Then the number of monsters starts to increase, untill there are at least 20 monsters at once. The purpose of Horde mode would be to truly test the defences of a base. Nomadic life styles are NOT an option with this mode, as there would be upwards of 20 zombies, skeletons, and other assorted nasties waiting for you every night. After all, once you have a highly secure base, whats the point of one or two mobs fruitlessly trying to get in? Why not have a minor army attempting to breach your defences?
I think this was one of the old ame types that got scraped. "Zombie siege" I believe it was. It would be fun to have this if there was no lag. Oh lag...
i think you mean like in the noob adventures part 2 how they had a small wall set up and got under attack from tons of everything and 1 creeper. it went like the battle of helm deep because one guy nearly died but ate a golden apple and then turned the tide with the famous words "its time to take this fight... up a notch!" untill the creeper where he had connection problems. no more spoilers for you.
This can work in so called "Fighting" games. Such as Call of Duty, Gears of War, etc. Doesn't seem like it would work in vanilla Minecraft. Minecraft isn't the type of game where your whole objective is to kill people/things. Maybe as a mod it would work. Mod is called ZombieCraft. Google it. It is made by Modzilla. Sounds like what your'e looking for.
