Am I the only one sorta getting tired of every mob just jumping and then falling over when they(or you) face death? Maybe
everything that has two legs(and you, but with different plans) would just fall to there knees and the faceplant to the ground? As for the humans if you die from a skeleton shooting an arrow at you, it goes third person as you fall to your knees then fall over. When it says game over, your body disappears and all your stuff falls all over the floor. Im not really sure what would happen to our four legged friends like creepers but still please read this idea carefully.
Thanks.

Message me yours if you want to trade in Animal Crossing: New Leaf or just need some friends to play with. I can also do Pokemon trades in Pokemon X(or Y), but I don't have any good stuff, and the only good stuff I have is not for trade so...send me requests anyway.
Quote of the Day:"It's Occam's Shuriken: when the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas."
Zombies = fall to knees then faceplant
Skeletons = fall apart
creepers = turn to gunpowder (dust)
Wolf = lay on side and die
pig =lay on side and die
cow = lay on side and die
sheep = lay on side and die :3 (basically same for all 4 legged creatures)
spider = roll on back and curl legs
slime = show animation for splitting
human(melee) = fall in direction opposite of direction of attack
human(arrow) = fall to knees and roll onto side
Human(fire, lava or explosion) = dissapear altogether, being vaporised
human(drowning) = roll onto face and float to surface
I know, lotta deaths, but still.
would be a pain to code for death-specific animations, but would look epic.
Then that would get boring too, plus impossible, NOTHING HAS JOINTS. What I suggest is different animations for the deaths of different monsters, like if a skeleton is killed it'll fall into pieces, or a zombie would explode into dust. The player would have different animations, e.g. if a creeper/ghast/TNT/fall damage kills you, your limbs and head go flying different directions (No blood of course) with the player only being able to see it if they are already in 3rd person mode. If the player dies from a zombie(/farlander?) they'll fall away from the mob and be eaten. If from fire/lava, it'll be the default animation, only instead of red they turn black. If they drown, the player will float to the surface upside-down. This could apply to other mobs, but it would be a lot of work for Mojang. Remember that.
EDIT: I was typing this as the guys above me posted.

There is a mod that gives mobs joints :3
goddie goodie
Zombies = disintegrate, all of its limbs should fall apart into a pile on the ground
Skeletons = crumble into dust
creepers = they should deflate like a bag, I've always thought of them as living sacks that are filled with gunpowder
Wolf = lay on side and die
pig =lay on side and die
cow = lay on side and die
sheep = lay on side and die :3 (basically same for all 4 legged creatures)
spider = fall flat so that all of its legs are at the same height
slime = turning into a green explosive-looking splash (magma slimes will turn into the same splash, but orange/red/black coloured)
Ghast = it should fall down, deflating like a bag, but water should be squirting out of it like its their tears
Blaze = its head and fire should disappear, leaving the rods by themselves, them the rods crumble to dust
**All MOBs should NOT be coloured red when they are dying, they should be the same colour as they were when alive unless they are turning into something else
**The death animations of MOBs will not play until they hit a block, so if you kill a flying MOB or you knock a MOB over a cliff, they will be stuck on the first frame until they land
**All MOBs killed by fire or lava should turn into a pile of black dust when killed
**All MOBs who are drowned should look the same as they were when living, but with closed eyes and bubbles all around them
**If a player dies and not by fire or lava, he will fall onto his knees and a sound will play of him going NOOOOO or AAAARGH, I think that player deaths should be more ceremonious :biggrin.gif:
But on the flip side, this would mean absolute hell for modders who are adding new MOBs, because then they would have to make death animations with them. For now, I'm thinking that perhaps the death animations should be left alone, although they would be an amazing addition to the game.
I like all the suggestions people have made, and I'm proud that they took their time to post them, but seriously, think of how much work it would be for Notch to change every single way that something dies. That would be a lot of coding, trust me, my friend makes small video games for himself on the computer, doing something like this is just a load of work on Notch's side of the table. So I'm sure he's got a hell of a reason for them to all die the same. But the idea of them all dying differently sounds rather nice, but still, a shitton of work on the person who has to code it all.

I agree, and I know what it's like to have to code every single death animation, sort of. I've made 2D shooter games in the past, and it sucks to have to put a death animation for each enemy -- imagine it in 3D. Originally I was sitting on the fence about this idea, but now I think that it shouldn't be added -- it'd be a nice mod for those who really want this relatively minor aesthetic change, but it would be hard on coders and Notch to actually add it into the game. Its great that you can make a bear, a demon, a dragon, a sasquatch, a shark, or Cthulu, but they'll by default all have a simple death animation that requires no graphical editing on the coder's part. We shouldn't ruin this.

Zombie - Stumble and faceplant
Creeper - Burst into flames
Slime - Explode
Ghast - Fall down and burst into flames
Zombie Pigman/Human - Fall over in a realistic way (faceplant maybe?)
Don't know about the others.
