Civilian
When right clicked, this gui appears:
The big black part would show the npc. Maybe some alternate skins for civilians?
The bubble that says "Who knows why I'm here..." would be a space for a random line of text to appear like on the main menu.
The small group of inv spaces is their inv. They would have food (bread, cookies, apples, sugar, wheat), a few raw materials (books, leather, paper, sticks, string, dyes), a few tools/armor (leather, wood) and maybe some coins. When putting the mouse over some items the chat bubble may change into something like "I will want something for that." You need to place a different item over that one item to get it.
The name will be randomly generated. A large set of names, last names, and a few second parts of the last name (worth, for example), although, sometimes does not get added to the last name.
They can spawn with 5 - 10 hearts
If they have the items, they can heal their selves and can put on armor

At the start of the game only the top bar of the merchant's inv will be full. Merchants sell at first 3 sets of items. It chooses one by random per day. Not dying on the first day will unlock a new item in the sets, for example. You can put stuff in an empty slot in the merchant inv. to sell stuff.

They start with 128 coal and can hold up to 9999 (or the highest bit number that is 4 digits). They will start smelting items when they get a coin. 5 coal will be used when given 1 coin. Their building would also contain a workbench so the player may craft tools or weapons.

Well thought out and detailed, but I would rather see what Notch's take on this is before suggesting or agreeing with any ideas for changes.

I agree completely with you. There are some very good ideas here, but I would like to see how Notch's ideas progress first.
Aside from that, good job. Most posts like this only post old ideas, and sometimes ideas that are already in the game. But you have very descriptive, and generally original ideas. :smile.gif:

Should I tweet notch?
Nah, I'd say wait 'til the adventure update is released, then revise these ideas. It's best not to suggest thing for updates yet to come out.
