Now, I was just chillin' in Minecraft, digging some dirt, when it came to me: "There's so much dirt, I wonder if we could make dirt tools?"
I thought it over, it was a horrible idea, but that made me wonder, what if we could combine dirt + bucket of water to make 'mud' ?
I mean, mud can become really hard sometimes, so why not?
I was thinking, at first, what would be the use of this?
Well, you could make mud-bricks by throwing the wet mud bricks into the furnace, for a quick, easy newbie house.
I'm not much of an ideas-man, but it's definitely worth throwing out for you guys to think further into, maybe.
Also, after thinking about that, I thought: 'What if mud really did make it into Minecraft? You'd have to even out the difference between 'mud' and 'dirt' right?'
So then I thought about Physics.
Now, unlike Terarria (If you've ever seen a tree being chopped down in Terarria) Minecraft's tree's just float there.
Now, I was thinking, what if the tree's physics kicked in after a certain amount of time?
Example; you have a tree that is 5 blocks high and you destroy the block in the middle, after a bit of time, the top of the tree would level back down with the bottom, to make a 4-block-high tree.
Now, I have no idea if that would work, but again, it's at-least worth throwing out there.
And what about dirt?
The physics on dirt could be the same, I guess. I mean, dirt isn't as soft as sand, so the physics wouldn't be like sand. But maybe again, with the timing-rule, it could start to fall down after a certain amount of time?
> Just throwing it all out there.
"I don't really like the physics idea and mud just sounds like another type of clay. Clay may be harder to find, but you can gather it with your hand. To make mud, you need to find iron to make a bucket to collect the water. I find that more time consuming than getting clay or smooth stone. I still kind of like the mud idea though. Maybe if mud is added, wooden buckets should be added as well. They would be like regular buckets except they wear down over time. It might be a good idea as well to make it so mobs will try to break through mud bricks if they are standing between you and them. "
- Thank you CodofMC for this.
Lo0katmyname brought up a good point, if mud bricks where brought into Minecraft, and a bucket of water was needed, buckets would have to be easier to make.
So I guess, adding wooden buckets would even that out.
And about the rain making the mud-bricks soft again, I guess keeping a torch down near the mudbricks, should keep them dry. Maybe. Just throwing it out there, again.
There's a mod that makes Minecraft trees act like Terraria's trees, which is pretty handy. As for the dried mud tool idea, sound like a cool idea for another mod.

Nobody's perfect, so neither is Hannah Montana Linux, but it's pretty great.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.

I really like that idea, Cod.
I'm adding it to the original post. ♥
Well, people in (I think) Africa (?) use mud to build houses, and they're as hard as they get, but like I said, bringing in mud would un-balance the whole game, so if it was brought in, everything else would maybe be a bit harder to get.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT ME AND MY BROTHERS THOT ABOUT MUD. IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO TURN MUD INTO MUDSTONE OR SOMETHIN :DDDDDDDlol sorry about caps :tongue.gif:

The mud bricks would be like a weaker version of a clay made brick . Mud bricks would have the durability(blast resistance) of oh... lets say 20. Better then planks(15) but still weaker then cobblestone(30) or brick(also 30). Heck it can be the same BR as planks for all I care.
Still kinda difficult to make but worthwile trying for due to the abundance of dirt.
I say also why put water on it just put it in the furnace(you do it with clay anyway).
Also for those who say this isn't a good building material. Its been used by many cultures throughout time as building material.

Well dirt doesn't fall apart. Neither should dry mud.
There is a forum for suggesting mods. I think this was meant for vanilla.
on the actual suggestion, es alright, but it would be better natural, as dracovenom had said
