One suggestion I had in mind for Minecraft's future multiplayer was maybe adding dedicated servers to it, but also keeping the IP based servers as well. It would open a wide variety of selections for players of Minecraft. They could choose a dedicated server or find a server IP that someone else is hosting. What does everyone else think? Please comment and tell me and don't forget to take the poll as well.
EDIT!
Ok, now I understand why Mojang wouldn't set up dedicated servers, but why not start up servers they own, control, and are based off of their own IPs. Why or why not?
......This topic is quite useless, as server's are ran by people, not Minecraft...And dedicated servers are servers that you pay to use a website's bandwidth...

Well here let me rephrase my suggestion. Maybe Mojang should start dedicated servers, but also keep IP based servers run by other people outside of Mojang available as well. That better for you?
This is still not really needed, because Mojang doesn't need to start dedicated servers. The other companies need money, too, because they need to pay for the massive bandwidth they bought to allow all this.

Pretty much this. Servers on this game are different than ones for like Starcraft where games exist for short amounts of time. They need to be persistant, and Mojang dedicated servers would be too overrun by people.

Yea I see what you mean. But how about Mojang creating servers for people to connect to. They not dedicated, there just run off of IPs, run by Mojang, and controlled by Mojang.
So you want Mojang to spend time creating hundreds of servers for others to use? That's going to be very costly, as he would also have to buy several computers to host them.
Not worth the money and the time of Mojang.
Just port forward like a boss.

In order to host a server (especially one that lots of people would be using), you would require the WHOLE computer to be dedicated to that whole server. And, since this will all be in the same location, it will be heavy on bandwith.
Ergo:
In order for this to work, they would need to buy several computers dedicated to hosting the server, and the server alone, as well as have a fast enough internet to run it.
Mojang doesn't have the time to set all of that up, so it would be better off just making your own server.
EDIT: @above What does that have anything to do with the suggestion?
