I'd like to make a request for a bug-fix, namely one related to time. Currently, furnaces and crops operate using real time. Real time is the time that passes in our world, as opposed to Minecraft Time. Minecraft Time is the highly accelerated time that passes in the Minecraft Universe (the fictional spacetime in which all Minecraft worlds exist).
Normally, this would not cause any problem, as there is a ratio between Real Time and Minecraft Time. However, Minecraft Time can flow much more quickly than it normally does when a bed is used. This results in the old ratio not reflecting the actual amount of Minecraft Time that passed in the Minecraft Universe. This means that objects such as furnaces will smelt a smaller amount of items per unit of Minecraft time if the player uses a bed.
What I propose is that if all players (or in the case of Survival Single Player, the player) use a bed, then Minecraft would perform a calculation as to how many objects would smelt in the remaining night-time,. The result of this calculation would then be used to instantly smelt the calculated number of objects the instant before the player wakes up (to avoid extra objects being smelted in the event of a rude awakening. The same would apply to crops and other time-based objects (which would allow mods to be time-accurate as well).
This bugfix would enhance immersion by allowing furnaces and crops to smelt and grow through through the night (respectively), and give players the resources that they rightfully deserve. It would improve Minecraft and would not have any negative side-effects.
Personally, I don't like the idea of doing that. It can make minecraft much easier, since you don't have to wait all that time for furnaces to work, or wheat to grow, etc. Not only that, but it would take longer for you to sleep, as it won't be an instant sleep, which could get annoying (I know I got annoyed with the mod).

I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to death, Nor known to life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works
