Ok, the server system is really aggravating me at the moment. Just got this game, wanna play it but the server stuff is frustrating. But thats not what we are here for. I really think that they should just have like, a "Create Server" button in game, instead of the IP Address. Along with a list of all the server's your a member in so you can connet alot easier to servers you have been in before. I think you should be able to make more then one server, with this feature as well. And as for finding servers, you could enter a username, name of the server, something, in a search bar to find it. Anyway, dont know if it makes sense if your eyes, but im half asleep and it makes perfect sense in mine. Mkay, dass aww fohks!
omg, their making easy server hosting when game comes out?!? ****ING FINALLY!!!! mabye not a list of ips, i just made a notepad document and hav a list of ips there. otherwise good idea...i really want to shovel a m80 in my nieghors mailbox... too bad thats federal crime.

What did that second part have to do with the first?
Also, I think they're making it similar to the one for games on Steam, that would be a smart idea with some moderations to it.
So please tell me, mister OP, where exactly are you going to get the servers from? HMMMMM? Certainly they are not going to host and run 3 Million servers, so that everyone that owns the game can make one, so how exactly is this idea going to work?

This is just an idea on my part, but what if they sort it out into categories?
Popular Servers; Servers that have had over 1000 different people visit.
Dedicated Servers; Servers that have had more than 100 different people visit.
Servers; Servers that have less than 100 different people.
Friend Servers; Servers that your friends are on, or servers that your friends have made.
Your Server; Clicking on this will bring up a status bar that shows who is on the server, how many admins are on, etc...
They're making a friend's list too, so remember that before you ask anything about the Friend Servers.

Actually that is fairly simple. When someone logs into a server, the client reads the info like the name of the server, the IP and port number, and (possibly) a description. The client then can send that info to a Mojang server, which will check a simple database (can be as simple as a text document) to see if that server IP and port is already on it. From there 3 things can happen:
If the server IP is already in the database and the name or description is the same, nothing changes.
If the server IP is already in the database but the Server Admin changed the name or description, the database updates to reflect those changes.
If the server IP is new, the database is updated.
It would take extensive coding but it is possible.

Wait, I thought what the guy had in mind was servers hosted by mojang, not dedicated servers.
