I'm not sure if anyone else has thought of this but a drill would be awesome have it gather rock/ore and dirt/sand with ease.cant provide a picture at the moment to how i think it should look but bascily have a dimond in the top right then to its left and below have 2 cobblestone then 3 across the middle and 1 stick in the bottom left and there you go a drill :biggrin.gif:

There are so many things wrong with this that all i'm going to say is i disagree.
That completely gets rid of the point of diamond picks and shovels. Plus, I'm not sure if you've noticed this, put a drill would look REALLY out of place in a game full of swords, bows, and medieval armor.
good point on the pix axe and shovel, to fix that problem i say with the diamond tip it has the speed of diamond tools but the 5 core blocks inside determine the duribilty of it so like if you used iron for the 5 core blocks it will have the speed of diamond but duribility of iron this would give it a pro-con thing compared to shovels and pick axes do you use just 4 diamonds for a pick axe and shovel and have to switch between them while making a tunnel or what ever your doing or do you use 6 diamonds just for the luxery im time saving. so basicly make it a luxery tool that just helps in digging out locations such as in mountaisn where the pattern can be Stone dirt stone dirt ect...
well, maybe if it was the fastest tool for mining stone blocks (like pickaxes) but requires fuel (for balance, of course)
thats why i mentioned the core blocks so the durability is based off them not the diamond at the tip. and fuel would probably be coal im guessing at lets say you can put a 64 stack of coal into the drill and it eats up 1 coal every 10 blocks thats a whopin 640 blocks you get to break by the time ur out of coal, while if it runs off durability from the 5 core blocks and lets say those blocks are iron you can only break 251 blocks of stone or dirt before you lose the drill and have to make a new one. by running off fuel i would asume it wouldnt break when it ran out so you can just put in another 64 stack of coal and keep going and i think its in high probablity that you would find 64 more coal in the 640 blocks you just broke with it. from my point of view using fuel, if it would be coal would not balance it and i dont see what else could be fuel. which is why my point of 5 core blocks are durability seems a bit more balanced. but then again i took ur fuel idea and just made a huge assumption on what you could of ment. so if i completly missed ur idea im sorry. lol
I've actually always thought of this idea, but if it WERE actually added to the game, it would be very balanced. You would definitely need fuel, and certain ores and blocks wouldn't drop to it. Also, it would have to be damaged by blocks. I'm pretty sure this would never be added to the game. This is an okay suggestion, but nice try.

Black powder, one of the early forms of gunpowder, was invented in the 12th century.
Besides, TNT in minecraft isn't actual TNT. TNT requires trinitrotoluene.
