Minecraft is great, but I would like some changes to be made to it. I would like way more farming\food options, maybe vegetables like carrots and such. I would like tempatures to affect the player, not severely, maybe slower movements in heat and the player to "shiver" in cold. I would like chest's to have mtheore abilities ex. a chest is filled with only coal. You need to mine the chest with at least a stone pickaxe or its contents will be spilled. I would like a extremely rare type of protection against mobs, maybe a type of held item which repels them like a scarecrow scares away crows (obviously un-craftible). Finally I would like sickness able to be gained from a player, maybe from a neutral mob hard to see. Leave additional suggestions below if you want.
Minecraft is still in Beta and very much lacks core content and direction. Even though it's a sandbox, there's still nothing to "nudge" you along (achievements don't count...). Hopefully, Minecraft will have a huge list of features (including some that you mention) that will make it a truly great game. We shouldn't have to depend on mods to make Minecraft enjoyable.
These are decent suggestions, but many of them have been suggested already. And also, I recently became aware that posting topics like this is against the rules. Not because it's a suggestion, but because it's a list of suggestions that you would like to see added. The forum mods want you think about your ideas thoroghly and give detailed suggestions instead of just ideas. I'd suggest taking some of your ideas from this thread and making new, more detailed threads for each idea, so you're not breaking any rules, and conversation about each will become more informative and helpful.
Well i do agree with the temperature affects and more food items I don't like the chest being a source of a extra inventory space inside your already filled inventory case. A bag filled with a book and then putting the bag with the book in it in a bigger bag doesn't mean you have more space to put other things. For a mob repelling item it would be light just brighten up dark areas or build a 3 high block wall around your property. For the last one you believe the player should get sick or am i wrong?
Another suggestion would be a new sea monster, which would be nice or adding improved water physics.
I think it ould be neat if salt water was added. And vast oceans could be generated by the world create. This would also come with the addition of salt.
