Hi, My name is Space130, and would like to show you some of my ideas i have had in my past.
I personally think that Natural Disasters is a good way to keep players active because you never know what will hit you.
Natural Disasters.
- Earth Quakes = Earth is shaking and there's a chance of blocks being broken and also some scars on the ground that lead to bedrock and will kill you.
- Floods = The surface of the water begins to rise and it wont be too long till there comes an massive wave upon you flooding your mines and all nearby tree's and flower [Too prevent abuse all items that are in flood are removed/ Will not strike if Drought.]
- Volcano = A mountain filled with volcano which will in the end fill and flood over and burn all nearby houses.
- Hurricane = A big wind strikes nearby and you better stay in you're house when this strikes because the outside won't be safe. There's a chance of your roof getting torn apart.
- Drought = If an area doe's not have any water near it, it will slowly turn dry and you'll need to search far away from home to get more water [Chance of losing you're home]
- Solar Flames = There's a chance of Solar Flames striking the world leading to /Forest Disasters/ Big Loss Of Mobs /]
Viruses.
- Wound By Zombie = You have a chance of getting the infection and becoming an zombie. Therefore Losing "the game"
- Swine Flu = You'd get random cough's which shakes you're screen / You're screen would also turn green for a split secound.
- Black Plague = That one virus you'd want to avoid, As history it killed over millions and it has returned to minecraft.
- Food Poisoning = When you harvest your crops there will be one crop "different" than the others, If you will not spot them you will get food poisoning.
Realism.
- Cramp = When you run alot you should get an Cramp, which is a muscle contraction. Only way to fix is to sleep.
- Hunger = If you do not eat regurarly you will be more tired and any physical movement will be slower than you would usually.
- Fat = If you over eat you will get fat, and walking will be harder. You should avoid getting hit by aggresive mobs.
- Broken Limbs = If you fall from a distance you will break your limbs, Only way to fix is to stay in bed for 5 Minecraft Days, Time will be moved forward, You will have some afterpain, but after that it should be gone.
- Liquid = Like every single life being, they need water, So you should avoid being around waterless areas.
- Burned Skin = If you place blocks to get across lava pool's you will get burned, You should lose half an hearth every 30 secounds. untill you get to water.
- Fire = If you are caught in fire, it will not spread to you're whole body, Also, if you're body is on fire you should take a good swim to the bottom, Just touching water won't work now.
All ideas should revolve around the basic premises of minecraft:
Get stuff to get better stuff, and the make stuff with new, better stuff. This is true wherever you look. Even every mod that is added causes a new goal, and new reasons to go out and get things. This helps both Adventure, excitement players, and timid, creative players stay in the game. That said, I'm going to run down what you have put up here and give my personal feedback. It may vary for other players, so don't be discouraged by anything I say!
- Earth Quakes = Too disastrous. No way to prevent it and permanent damage to the world.
- Floods = Not so sure I like the idea of removing items, and I don't see how this could be "abused". I could see it being used, but not abused.
- Volcano = I love you.
- Hurricane = Pretty much Lightning storms.
- Drought = I wouldn't like the "loss of home" affect, especially not in creative type modes (creative servers/peaceful), but I could see damage to things and receding life being interesting. Makes you have to do something.
- Solar Flames = To disastrous, but I could see this as an interesting mod.
- Wound By Zombie = I could see this working as a rare event, with some sort of medicine needed to cure it. This gives the player a goal without restricting the player to said goal.
- Swine Flu = Makes no sense, has no real effect.
- Black Plague = No. Just, no. Instant death just because = bad.
- Food Poisoning = I could see poisonous food, maybe. I don't think it should kill the player, however, which would end up happening by damage over time poison effect.
- Cramp = Bad, bad, bad idea. "Oh it's late out, I should get to my home and sleep. Oh no, a creeper! I'd better run. Oh no, cramp! I can't run, or get back to my house." - dead. This kills exploration.
- Hunger = Supposedly being implemented in 1.8.
- Fat = Terrible idea. We play games to escape the real world, and this is a problem that effects millions in todays society, especially America and other commonwealth countries.
- Broken Limbs = I could see this as a mod, and sorta reminds me of Deus Ex or similar games. Staying in bed doing nothing is not entertaining. In fact, we stay in bed just to play minecraft. You're pulling some inception shenanigans there.
- Liquid = I can see this as a mod. I don't see it as a good in-game effect. That's essentially killing the player when they go into the desert (night+no water = creeper and damage over time = dead just because)

Can we have rare meteors that land causing a decent sized crater? I don't really agree with the realism part. Floods and volcanos would be nice (And rare meteors! ) I sort of like wound by zombie and food poisoning. Wound by zombie can be a sort of rare disease when hit by a zombie, and food poisoning being sort of rare if you eat raw foods (and most definitely 100% with poison mushrooms)
Realsim isn't exactly a big part of Minecraft anyways...

drought shoudl be like a short few day problem that lowers the water level a bit and cause's trees and grass to turn brown and things like flowers to die

how would it know what your roof is? and what would prevent it from leveling a mountin? maybe just storm winds that strip trees and stuff
i like the idea of volcanoes, floods, and poisoned foods. <--- and this lead me to a thought about being able to poison other peoples food in pvp servers. anybody like that idea? i like it :tongue.gif: like use some sort of sick juice (lol) to poison a crop and make it hard (but not impossible) to tell it from other crops.
Burned skin already happens? If you fall from a tower how can you get to a bed, and in single player 5 days wont make a difference. Fat? Really? Hunger is for healing health. You can't 'run' so how can you get a cramp?
