instead of building brand new diamond picks, just repair it. bust out your repair table that looks like this
[item to be repaired ] + [ ingot used to repair ] = [ ]
instead of the normal table
[ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] =
[ ] [ ] [ ]

of course you cant just repair a tool without the possibility of consequence.
the better the ingot (diamond better than gold which is better than iron which is better than cobblestone, etc) the more likely your repair will not go wrong and destroy the tool you are trying to save. the better condition the tool is in the less likely for the tool to be destroyed as well. so you can save your diamond pickaxe with 1 diamond instead of using 3 to make a new one... if you are lucky enough :wink.gif:

I have tried Putting my damage Pick under My other damage Pick just like in fallout 3 repair weapons system

INVedit has that system sort of, but its not in-game. It would always be interesting to see it implemented into the real game too though...
