I was staring at my chest full of gold bars today wondering what to do with it. Golden tools, weapons, and armor look cool and all, but t are a pain to carry around as if you use them they break soon after. It can be made into blocks, but a giant house of gold blocks, while impressive looks kind of silly. So I thought "What if gold bars could be made into trimming". This trim could be used to trim blocks tools and armor. The building code for it would be-
It would give you one trim. In order to trim a tool(including swords) it would take two pieces of "trim". In order to trim a piece of armor it would take three, and to trim a block it would take 4 trim. The codes would be- ( =the trim)
tool-
armor-
Block-
Adding trim wouldn't server any use other than decoration. If a tool or a piece of armor broke than one of the trims would drop. (the rest being destroyed). I think it would give everyone another option for decoration, which in my opinion is needed badly in minecraft.
Interesting but unneeded. It would look cool, but you would have to make four new textures, unless, of course, you made only one "trim" texture to put over the armor texture. However, that might prevent texture makers from making different armors.
Why is Runescape EVERYWHERE!? I feel like at any moment TheRunescapeArchitect(see what i did there?) is going to have a sit-down conversation with me, explaining how Runescape is the Matrix, and we can't escape it, no matter what we do.

Well decoration is never needed it's just to look cool in my opinion. Anyway I'm slightly confused on what you mean by four new textures.
So true, so true. I guess Satan is as good at tricking people into playing and liking his creations as Bush is at waging war with everyone. The new, purely decorative use of gold would not be worth nearly doubling the necessary ID codes just to have things with trim.
Just comment on the idea itself not if it's worth the item id's please. It's up to Notch to decide about whether the codings worth it, not you.
Resource utilization is a perfectly legitimate criticism against an idea and deserves to be stated as much. I don't want to see over a dozen new resources and ID's for an idea where gold tools and armor have already been created.

Sorry, no dice.
