Players should be able to select different multiplayer gamemodes ingame
First, you will be able to craft a multiplayer box like this
By right clicking the box a menu will appear, in this menu you can select various gamemodes, afters selecting the mode you will be able to set the rules and then pick a team (red, blue, green, yellow, there would 2 teams only gamemodes), after that an alert will appear in the server chat alerting the players that they can join a game, their compasses and maps will point to the multiplayer box, after right clicking the box they will be able to choose a team and see all the players that have joined the game.
Now lets say the player who started the game selected capture the flag as a gamemode, once all the players have joined a team he can choose to start, now, all the players will wear cloaks with the color of their team and 1 player from each team will be given a placeable flag from their team, there will be a certain period of time (1 minute, 5 minute? it can be adjusted in the gamemode's rules) in which these players must place the flag, in this period players can't hurt each other, break blocks or craft items, however they can follow their opponents and see where they will place the flag, the team's spawn will be set around their flag, if the time ends and the players dont place the flag, the flag will be placed automaticly in the players position, after placing both flags the game will start, players will be teleported to their spawn and their enemy's flags will be visible in both their compasses and maps, anyway, you already know how capture the flag works and you already get the main idea.
-There would be other gamemodes like team PvP, race, etc
-Multiple games can be hosted in the same server, but you would need to craft more multiplayer boxes.
-Inventory will be emptied when playing but after finishing it will be restored, the player will have to craft items from the start when playing . (things like this would be able to be adjusted in the rules)
-Mobs will still spawn as normally
-The base game mechanics will be the same, blocks can be destroyed, you can dig tunnels, craft anything.
-A bet system is subject to be implemented
-Players outside the game can interfere with players ingame (this can be adjusted in the rules)
-When being member of a team, you will wear a cloak with the color of your team and all your teammates will be visible on your map and their names will be displayed above them, you can't hit them (unless you activate the FF option)
Just because it has a diamond in it doesn't make the recipe balanced. And plus there's mods for them and right now Minecraft is still in the "sandbox" stages. *stares at 1.8*

august starts just tomorrow, minecraft is scheduled for release in november, seriously, between 1.8 and the full game which kind of updates are you expecting?, you seriously expect for minecraft to all of the sudden jump from a beta, incomplete game to a fully developed game with complete functions? No, minecraft needs huge steps forward in other to reach a more acceptable stage to be considered complete, that wont happen all of the sudden, august starts tomorrow, just saying

I dont see how this recipe is not balanced, getting diamonds is nothing simple, by the time you earn your first diamond you will already have some infrastructure build, perfect moment to start exploring other gamemodes
I support this, this is really something which should be added to the full game
