The Shadowrealm is a bleak world that is almost all dark.
It would be accessed by building a portal out of soul sand, and building it in total darkness The portal will still work if light touches it after its activation. The Shadowrealm is a flat world with occasional quicksilver pools, spires of stone, and unique mobs.
The Mobs
The Shadowrealm is populated by 3 different mobs: The Reaper, the Shade, and the Harpy. The Reaper is a skeleton that wields a scythe.
It can jump 3 blocks high and far, and deals 4 damage. Reapers spawn more when the light level is higher, until level 8. The Reaper has 10 health and drops silver ore, which can be used to craft armor, silver swords, silver blocks, quicksilver, and mirrors.
The Shade is a being of shadow, almost invisible in the darkness of the Shadowrealm. It can only be killed by a silver sword.
Shades do not attack until provoked, and then will deal 2 damage. They can pass through a block as long as they start in and end up in air, lava, or water. Shades have 6 hearts and drop shadow dust when killed.
Harpies are flying mobs that swoop down at you, dealing 2 hearts of damage. They have 15 hearts and drop wings, which allow you to jump
5 spaces high. Wings have a durability of around 140.
The Terrain
A defining feature of the Shadowrealm is the spires of stone. These are almost inaccessible, but for the passageways inside it.
They have treasure on the top, but are protected by Harpies. The treasure is a chest with a 1/16 chance of a gold apple, a 1/8 chance of a quicksilver bucket, a 5/16 chance of cocoa beans, and a 1/2 chance of a music disc, but is very hard to reach.
Another part of the Shadowrealm is the quicksilver pools. Quicksilver pools are circular pits 8 blocks wide and 3 blocks deep.
They are common among the Shadowrealm, and are easily spotted as they emit a light level of 9. Quicksilver is a silvery liquid that can be bucketed and does not flow at all. If you fall in a quicksilver pool, it deals ½ damage at a pace similar to fire. Because Reapers spawn more frequently when the light level is higher, up to eight, the quicksilver pools almost always have reapers guarding them.
Shade caves are caves with 1 glowstone block at the front, to show where they are. Inside are 5 to 6 hostile shades.
They are surrounding a chest like the ones on the spires. The chest, however, always has a red music disc, which plays a creepy, sinister track.
The Items
Silver
Silver ingots are a pale, silvery metal. Silver can be crafted into a variety of items.
Silver armor is crafted the regular way, and each piece worn reduces damage taken by mobs ½ heart, which can stack to 2 damage gone. It gets worn out whenever it blocks damage, and has 60 uses each. Silver swords are the only thing that can kill shades. Silver ingots in a square of four give you 2 mirrors, which can be placed on the wall similar to paintings, and which show you the reflected object. Crating two mirrors diagonally creates a slanted mirror, which would be placed on a block and face you, like stairs, except that they could be placed upside-down. Silver can be crafted, along with a bucket of water and shadow dust, into quicksilver.
Quicksilver
Quicksilver’s main application is in use of traps and redstone wiring. Quicksilver, when brought into contact a redstone current,
will transmit an arc of electricity to the nearest quicksilver within 5 blocks and with nothing in between. The electricity arcing between will deal 4 hearts of damage. The current will then be transferred to any adjacent redstone wire. Quicksilver doesn't flow to other blocks, so it can be. However, quicksilver can be used in a few crafting recipes. Iron and quicksilver crafted together will make 1 gold bar and leave you a bucket. Quicksilver can also be used in crafting solar panels:
With lava being quicksilver and gold being slanted mirrors. Solar panels can be set to detect a light level of 0, 1, 8, or 15, and send a redstone current once the required light level is detected.
Shadow Dust
0-2 Shadow Dust is dropped by shades, when killed. It is a pure black dust that can be crafted into acid and Shadow Blocks.
Acid is crafted with shadow dust added to a bucket of quicksilver. It destroys any block of less than 30 blast resistance within 5 seconds with an audible hissing noise that is distinguishable from Creepers. It flows for 4 blocks. Redstone added to a bucket of acid created volatile acid. It dissolves any block of less than 40 blast resistance and flows for 5 blocks. Shadow dust can be crafted in a square of four to make a shadow block. Shadow blocks have a light level of -15, in that they absorb light in a pattern like light. It a shadow block is in daylight, it reduces a block around it to a light level of 0, 2 blocks from it to a level of 1, et cetera.
ummmm, I don't know, you do relize that 'quicksilver' refers to mercury and how, when it was discovered, it was thought to be liqid silver, also, fast going downhill because of it's amazing densicty. Also, this looks alot like a 'nightmare' realm, this stuff is like what you would find in a nightmare, or death, depending on how you look at it.
