I play minecraft for about a week now, and I'm growing extremely bored of the single-player aspect of it, building and exploring, a.k.a. build a base and sit there digging until you are bored. I constantly find myself in this never ending cycle of trying to keep monsters out and expanding my estates. Considering that its a beta everything is yet to come but since its survival mode, it should be way more challenging than that. Following this I tried to come up with a way to improve my single-player experience, and I've come to a solution.
-Solution-
Equip monsters with a better artificial intelligence, like spiders putting you in a web, slowing down your movements and allowing other monsters to catch up, and creepers exploding near the wall if they cannot find an easy way towards a nearby player. These monsters would analyze their surroundings to find the best way to make the player miserable. This solution should be aimed at the better players that want a challenge to their game, perhaps implanted in a higher level difficulty. There should be items that could prevent these actions in some shape or form, maybe a rare block that absorbs the creeper explosion, or something like that. Also relating to this, added monsters should have some kind of an edge when it comes to messing with the player's life.
I've thought about the fascinating concept of a ghost stalker, an invisible monster with half a heart of health that would make almost no sound when it comes, than target the player's back, and do some low damage while making a laughing noise when it attacks, after which it would appear for about 3 seconds giving the player time to kill it before it becomes invisible again. Maybe a digger that spawns underground and senses the player in a 20x20x20 vicinity and digs through dirt, sand, and gravel to get to the target, therefore forcing the player to take the preventative action of removing all dirt from his/her base.
-Conclusion-
That about finishes my suggestion for improved artificial intelligence. Please think of the ideas for the new monsters an example of involving AI in monsters, thus it relates to the topic. I would love constructive criticism, and if I consider it an improvement of my idea I will do my best to include it in the above suggestion.
Also, I would like to add that this suggestion could apply to multi-player servers as well, as a choice made by the owner of the server.
You're too fond of improving artificial intelligence in the games but are you aware of artificial intelligence in the real life scenario? Well, I think you would be interested with it. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a phrase that is often heard, especially in the context of recent movies and even games just like what you are talking about, but rarely understood. In general, AI refers to the automation of intelligent behavior via mechanisms such as computers and that is brought about by advanced technology. Another interesting about technology is about the human and computer hybrids that have always been a theoretical possibility, but not an actual likelihood. Now, two new developments bring biological computing closer than ever. The two brand new improvements in creating human-computer hybrids are getting this closer. Biological transistors and skin-based touchpads have now been developed and even tested. These developments and others have been making the possibility of biologically compatible computers more likely. Medical science is especially interested in the possibility, as programmable, biologically neutral computers would be able to improve diagnostics. Medical science is not the only use for these developments, but it is sure to be one of the first uses. Truly usable, commercial biological computers are likely to be years, if not decades away. These developments, however, are two major steps toward the reality.
