Instead of disappearing wood and such it could replace the fresh block of wood to a block of Burnt Wood. And mining this wood should yield Charcoal.
Also this could be applied to all forms of wood, and could also add a gravity property to the item, so your house can literally 'burn down' instead of just turn black.
Wierd. Whenever i burn wood in my camp fires, all thats left is ash :sad.gif:. Its not possible to burn wood out in the open with a simple fire and create charcoal.
And I suppose planks in a furnace burning wood produces the needed heat and pressure to create charcoal? This is not exactly the most realistic game.
Could also make for some forest fire biomes.
Umm actually... planks could be used to make charcoal. The person you quoted was incorrect. You don't exactly need lots of pressure, you just need heat and a low oxygen Envrionment. As the amount of oxygen can be controlled in a closed furnace and logs are a heat source it is very possible.
I do not support, as this idea is in no way based on any kind of logic other than fire and wood can potentially make charcoal if used in a specific way. Also, it has been suggested multiple times and is therefore spam.
Both of those are still open topics so I suggest you move the conversation there.

And I'm sure there would be some interesting uses for blocks that become gravity affected after being set on fire.
