The vechiles would be large platforms which you could build on, so you could make customs building on top on it. Because of this you could make it a house thereform being able to live in it. If this was added they would be very expenise. There would also be differnt type such as Foalting (water), Flying, and rail based. They would be very slow and hard to turn, and the more blocks added would make it even slower, but if you connected mulipule platforms together it would be a little faster. These would make long trips easy and would just be cool.
This is a personal preference more than it is anything else, but I think that if you want to move somewhere else, the penalty is having to build another house. In essence, you're building a little colony across the world of Minecraft.
Also, it's like having two conjoined worlds in a sense. What I did, was I went to the nether, and built a bridge about 500 blocks long. Then I built a nether portal at the end of it. When I went through, I was about 4,500 blocks away from my first nether portal, and I can travel between the two in a matter of minutes. I still have the same items, but I have two very different homes and biomes.
If you were to move your house, not only would it be faster to just build another one 5,000 blocks away, instead of moving your current one 5,000 blocks, but it would be more rewarding in the long run.

I voted no, because of personal preference. And so did two other people. Is there a problem?
These Vechiles are ment for long resoure gathering trips where you spend the night.

I'm thinking...
We need a block that tells you when a vehicle is a vehicle
Thruster: Turns on when powered by redstone and consumes fuel. Applies a force in a specific direction. Could be propellers like you said but I'm just gonna call them Thrusters for now.
We need some way to make all Thrusters consume fuel from one location so you don't have to physically go to every one. Perhaps...Engine and Pipes? (Say the thruster is on a wing, you can't refuel that)
Something to reduce weight. Perhaps hot air and a wool balloon.
Every ship should have
a weight
a mass and
a center of weight
a center of mass
The ship would calculate acceleration with a = F/m, F being the total Force from the thrusters at the time(a vector value) and the mass. If the force vector does not pass through the center of mass the ship would rotate.
How to pilot the (air)ship:
You would connect all thrusters with redstone to one location(Like a cockpit). So... say you had 3 levers.
One turns on a bunch of Thrusters near the back of the ship facing back. These are your main propulsion. They push you forwards.
The second lever powers a group of Thrusters at the back but a bit to the left. When on they shift the force vector so it's not passing through the center of mass. Thus causing the ship to rotate to the right as it moves forwards.
The third one is the same as the second but on the opposite side.
Center of Mass vs. Center of Weight.
Maybe you would want the Center of Weight to be below the Center of Mass so the thing doesn't capsize.
Oh and buoyancy.
0 = air.
100 = water.
Buoyancy is determined by the volume in relation to the volume it's in.
So you would want to design your vehicle with this in mind.
When making a flying machine you would want a buoyancy of around 0 because then you don't have to worry about gravity.
A boat would want a buoyancy of around 50-75. Less bouanycy then water means it floats.
A submarine would want about a 100 for similar reasons to why flying machines want 0.
A car would want >0.
A car that drives at the bottom of the ocean would want >100.
It's funny that I need a Copy-Paste Reply (Hint Hint).

The Sun rises in the North!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line...
I already did this back with 1.4 using bukkit and movecraft but using the last horrible updates this no longer works well at all *weeps* iv built some really nice house boats i cant use :sad.gif:
So yes we all want this, but mojang gotta get its head out its ass and release the mod api or
well never see this unless they release uncensored and full source code.
