The Nether is useful with its unrealistic mobs (ghasts and pigzombies), always on fire netherrack, bright as day glowstone, and slow as slug soulsand, but there is no prize to entering such a dangerous place. The regular Minecraft world has dungeons that provide mossycobblestone, treasure chests with valuables (especially music discs), and mob spawners to set traps. I also read that the Aether has some dungeons as well but I haven't explored them since I am yet to get the mod (but I will get the awesomely made mod). If the regular world and the Aether have dungeons, who says the Nether can't either? Post comments for ideas of treasure chest valuables, new mob spawner design (maybe a red see through box to look devilish), and a new block (like cobblestone is to mossycobblestone as netherrack is to ???)
The dungeon should be made of obsidian... Seeing as how you won't find it naturally spawned in the Nether...
Good idea but I was looking for something more as a NEW block. Remember that notch didn't make mossycobblestone until the release of the dungeons. If he made a new block for regular world dungeons, then why not make a new one for Nether dungeons. Maybe obsidian could be one of the items found inside the chests in the Nether dungeons only.
I thought mossy cobble was created along-side regular cobble way back in creative, and dungeons were just the only way to get it in versions after that.
As for treasure chest goodies, bones, buckets of lava, and glowstone could be possibilities.

Maybe golden swords too.
Even if it was realeased in creative mode, you can't find it anywhere else other than dungeons (although there is talk that notch will make it so that cobblestone will turn into mossycobblestone if left out too long).
As for the treasure ideas, they're pretty good and would make sense. And maybe they could include old treasure goods like iron ingots (why not?).
One last thing, lol to you're profile pic with the face. I love FFFFUUUU comics.
I have an idea:Nether dungeons get their own little heaven-themed biome.
How this will work is:As you explore, you notice a strange patch of white blocks leading downwards into a cave under an underpass of Soulsand. You make your way to it,noticing that the fog becomes whiteish as you go to the whiteness. You experimentally dig up one of the white blocks with your shovel and it releases puffs of smoke like Redstone. It appears to be a slightly glowing dirt-like substance. You place it back. You notice through the thick fog(the fog level gets forced to small) that there appears to be a structure in the distance.
You walk towards it,but as you notice moving shapes of mobs you've never seen before, you stop in your tracks and consider spinning on your heels and NOPE NOPE NOPEing away, but you remember about your full diamond gear and decide to charge.
The blueish-grey mobs in the distance stare at you as you come, reminding you of Endermen, but they retreat into the building as you come nearer, which you can see is a Greek Parthenon of sorts(like the silver Aether dungeon, but more white). This building will have a bunch of exclusive, aesthetic blocks that can be mined for building purposes, including pillars and carved marble blocks. When you make it inside, you find a dark, yet high-ceilinged and wide open room, with glowing eyes staring at you from the dark and slightly glowing swords glistening in the enemy's hands.
You switch to your sword and charge at the new foe...
This dungeon will be huge-as in,it takes up the majority of the entire chunk(and extends into others) it's found in.It will not only extend throughout the entirety of the parthenon, but tunnels and catacombs extending both up to the bedrock ceiling of the Nether and down to the dark depths of the bottom layers.
Inside said huge dungeon will be special, glowing chests that can't be opened, only broken and will drop a few dungeon-exclusive special items, ranging from lots of stackable insta-heal food(Potions?Healing spells?)to mighty,end-game level indestructible tools with special abilities and very,VERY rarely,a machine gun(as well as a lot of ammo,it'll be a while before you get more)from a civilization long gone.
It will have a plethora of new mobs and blocks, such as the warlike Banished Orcs and the ghostly Heroic Souls. This will be the ultimate end-game for players who are bored of Minecraft and have found many, many diamonds.
