For a multitude of reasons, I would max it out at 6 blocks.
Power at any of the Pistons would activate the full piston.
You cannot push any of the pistons contributing to an extending piston.
Pistons next to each other like that become part of a unit much like a double chest.
Uses:
* Pushing/pulling blocks further.
* Elevators
* Huge Flood Gates
* Larger Gates
* Larger 'Doors'
* Big 'Smashers'
* Larger hidden bridges.
* An actual extending and retracting bridge.
* A fully collapsible stair case
* A Panic Wall/Pit/Lava Pit/Moat around your base.
My Personal Reason for this suggestion:
I was thinking about recreating Cat's Lair from Thundercats, and my first step would be to create the retracting 10 block bridge over the chasm. ...and this would help.
Well, everyone...run with the idea. Improve it. Critique it, I'll be back in a few weeks.

If you stack a Desert Temple on the top of a Jungle Temple which is on the top of two churches you get a megazord

Why? Just have one piston push the other into a redstone wire, then both will be activated.

Hypothetical: You read a thread in the Suggestions forum. You suddenly realize you've seen the idea before. Maybe it's a duplicate? No. Maybe it's just you? No. Maybe it's been done already? Very likely: Click here if there's a mod for that.

I wanted to make a castle gate with a portcullis (a gate that comes from above). Unfortunately, because my gate was 6 blocks wide, I couldn't do it, after all, there is no way to have redstone in the air to power the gate sections.
The mod's idea would let me do it.
I don't see how this is redundant if it lets me do something I can't right now.

If a piston pushes into another adjacent piston that is facing the same direction, the piston passes into that piston and extends it.
R = Right Facing Piston
- = Piston Shaft
t = active power

ModeratorThat's a good idea. It can act as Redstone, but only to pistons being pushed or pulled by it, and only the same length as Redstone wire.

It would destroy many of my inventions.
Plus it's redundant.
