Had a thought.... wood floats in water.....so why should it not in minecraft?
Now ignoring all other stuff about minecraft like the lack of gravity on basically everything....
But wood blocks should float!
I think wood blocks (not talking about wooden plank blocks) should when placed on or in water should float to the top, and poke out of it, almost like a half block and moves slightly up and down. Even in moving water the wood blocks should move its way down the flow of the water.
What would be really fun about this is you can make actual boats that will move!!!
There should also be a limit on how much you can put on top of the block befor it will sink. Maybe something like Notch did for the pistons they can not push more then 7 blocks (I think its 7 if im wrong I know someone will correct me.).
I just love the idea of having wood (which is easy enough to get) to float and be able to push it around water and build boats out of it...and by having a limit of how much can be put on top it stops people from building huge towering ships, but something more practical and thought out (not saying the huge ships people make are bad I love them).
Anyway this is a thought I just had, and think it will add something extra to the game, without really making it a cheat.
This is a great suggestion. I've wanted such contraptions involving wood and water and pistons...
An easy way to clog a straight waterfall would be to place the wood at the base. It floats up and clogs the source block. Though, the wood doesn't come down. :0
I can also imagine this for easy wood transportation. :biggrin.gif:

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…

I did not think of that, I guess once its up there it would wedge itself in.
But the way I imaged it, it is effected by the flow of water it would prob be pushed down the waterfall, and down the stream that it creates.
It only floats in still water, otherwise its pushed with the current.
I suggested something like this a while back, but rather than affect existing wood (which could ruin a lot of structures already built) it would introduce cork trees that would yield floating wood blocks.
