Hello everybody!! Miners, creators and builders!
So, I've come here to bring you an idea! :tongue.gif:
Imagine: If I fall from the roof of my MINECRAFT house, and I'm wearing a leather cap, the cap will take some damage.
But wait! The cap doesn't touch nothing! It can't take damage!
My idea is to locate the damages and hit the armour (if wearing it):
Falling: The boots will take damage. (No chestplate, leggins and helmet damage, because they don't touch nothing)!
Spiders: Spiders aren't tall mobs, so, if you're wearing full set, and take damage from the spider, your Leggins and Boots will take the damage (they can't hit chestplate and helmet because they're short)!
Skeletons, Zombies and Zombie Pigman: They're humans/half-humans mobs, so, it's normal to they hit the chestplate and helmet.
Creepers and Ghasts: Explosions may destroy everything, so, it cans damage all armours.
That's not a bad idea. But why should different mobs damage different areas? I think it would be better if the game just figured out where the mob hit you and used that.

Problem is it seems the enemies don't actually hit you, it's an on touch deal like Pacman.
OP's suggestion could work while synergizeing with the current flawed system.

This idea is only for armor!
Hope you understand and approve it,
