Minecraft is originally a sandbox game, and many are upset about the upcoming RPG and adventure updates. They say it will limit the sandbox factor of Minecraft, and it will solely be a rougelike game.
I personally don't feel this way, the RPG addition will have us on new adventures and quests into the unknown, rather than by curiosity. But that's not why I'm posting this in the Suggestions section of the forums.
What if Minecraft had its sandbox put into the RPG addition?
As in, tasks NPCs give you to build a tower for their village to ward off the creepers, or to dig farther in a mining cave through hard stone they cannot break. They could ask you to build a dock, and create a chest of boats at the dock. Or to build a set of minecart tracks through their mining caves. The possibilities of tasks that force you to create epic things are endless.
Not only would it help hone your building/crafting skill, but it would also give you ideas for other things to create. Because frankly, it would help to have some motivation to build epic things.
Bumps are against the rules unless you have something new to say. Just giving a useless bump is... Yeah, against the rules. I don't get why nobody ever reads the rules.
Anyways, I don't think the update will get rid of the sandbox feature, it's just going to add a roguelike feature. It's just adding without taking away from anything.

The bump was a reminder to get back on topic. So in a way, it wasn't useless.
And we're off topic, so I'd rather not bump again.

How is that relevant?
My thoughts exactly....
