I feel like this might make the game a little more challenging, especially with the addition of XP and levels. For instance: One might need a saw to place wood blocks, and it might take 3 seconds to saw that log into an appropriate enough way to place as a wall. And other things like, in order to make placeable dirt you need to turn it into mud which you do by putting it into a water pit.
I don't think it should be affecting by dirt, wood, or any common material. It has to be for rarer or less-used blocks, or even new ones.
Notch made the game so that we could make a massive wood wall with our bare hands , why would he change that now... if he thought about that in the past then he would use it in the past. I think the game should stay as it is : SIMPLE!

I just said limit it to new blocks. I would not play if you needed a saw to place wood.

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…
That'd be cool as ****.
Becuase **** stinks...

It doenst matters if the block is old or new , we can make a massive wall with our bare hands , no matter what material.
I was thinking more of a new block in which a tool or process is required to place it in real life. The question is: What block would that be?
