Think about it! Seasons! In a new world, you would start off in January, snow on the ground and it would snow every so often, Then March, it would change over into Spring time and flowers and leaves on the trees would start to bloom, and with spring time, means some strong storms, so a thunderstorm would be more likely during this time. June time, Summer would come around, and it would remain daytime slightly longer and night slightly shorter, and during some years, droughts and flooding could occur more than any other. September, Autumn would start to happen, and grass and leaves would start to change colours. Then December time, winter time would come. It would start to snow here and there, with the uncommon blizzard happen. I know I got off topic with the day/night and weather stuff, but that would count into the seasons. Also, more off topic stuff but making calanders would also be cool to integrate into the game. Please comment and support your idea. This is an amazing idea that would make minecraft even more worth while. :cool.gif:
Here is my related idea:
1) BIGGER BIOMES! Without this my suggestion would be very odd.
2) NON-GLOBAL Precipitation! It is also required for the suggestion.
3) Every location currently has 2 values to determine the biome: Heat and Humidity. These to values currently remain constant.
4) I'm thinking that throughout the year these two variables would fluctuate. They would never fluctuate to far from the base amount(IE a tundra will never turn into a desert). In summer heat is at it's highest; winter at it's lowest. Humidity is highest in Spring.
5) The higher the humidity the more chance of precipitation. Type of precipitation is determined by temperature.
6) In some locations it could rain some times and snow other times depending on the time of year.
7) Rain and high heat levels both destroys snow patches and turn ice with nothing above it to water.
8) Water turns to Ice as long as the temperature is cold enough and there is no object above it(as it currently is. The colder it is the faster the ice is made.
9) Grass color and plant growth would change based on the two factors.
10) If an ingame year was 365 ingame days then one year would be 122 hours of playtime so I think a year should be shorter.
Biomes remain intact, it adds a little more gameplay to the mix, etc, etc, etc.
i said no becuase thats what biomes and snow/rain are for.Maybe when minecraft leaves beta the biomes part of it will be more advenced and have seasons but as for now biomes, rain, and snow is the replacement for seasons.

Biomes just effect the weather. For example, just the tundra biome only snows, and sometimes people want snow alot of the times. With seasons, during winter time it will snow every regardless of biome, and during summertime, tundra will still have snow. So quite a bit of trial and error and make this work, if Notch desides to.
It should be a special biome that had seasons.. cause seasons would kinda mess up snowy biomes and the desert too
Edit: dont ever only have a yes and no answer in a poll, always add a "Yes, if changes are made", it'll make the number of "no" votes smaller
I was thinking that grasslands should be affected by it, but make the biome be much bigger than normal, as it would cause confusion, and that no biome would be conceled within the actual biome itself. But Tundra and Desert Biomes would have 2 seasons, wet and dry, as in monsoons and incredible droughts, and monster snow storms and just plain days in the tundra.
Assassin10 seems to have the clearest and best ideas here, I might support this more if you clarify exactly what your thinking of and not seem so energetic about this idea. But other than that, yes, i can see this as a good idea. :smile.gif:

Read my post a few up.
And OP, your poll needs more choices like "Like the concept but dislike your take on it" or "Unsure". Yes/No is too limited.
