I am having a heep of trouble finding slimes, this was never a problem until pistons and sticky pistons came out. I think with their addition it would be a very good idea to make slimes easier to find and slimeballs easier to get as I am stopped from completing my construction as it stands.
On my multiplayer game, we played for 9 hours straight, seeing lava and water galore, and we saw one slime. Un limo.
My buddie was super dissapointed. So yes, I think that slimes are rarer than nessasary. Also: Ever heard of TooManyItems? lol :smile.gif:
Look up how to find slimes on the forums. There's an app online you can use that tells you what chunks spawn them in your world. You just need to go to those chunks and make a 16x16x4 room and light it really well so nothing but slimes spawns there.
I've been having the same problem as well. Three whole caves systems worth of searching and no slimes :mellow.gif:
But it turns out it's not that slime spawn rates are to low. It's just that they only spawn in certain chunks, and only below layer 16. To quote the Minecraft wiki; "Slimes only spawn in certain chunks that are determined pseudo-randomly by the seed of the world the player is in, and only below layer 16. Roughly 10% of all the chunks will be able to spawn slimes." So basically if you're really having difficulty finding slimes you just have to build/dig out a sizable enough underground room and hope for the best. Lighting helps to, decreasing other mobs spawn rates and thus increasing the chance for slime spawns.
I stayed in a giant room for 2 hours.
only 3 slimes spawned, and I only got four slimeballs from them!?! :huh.gif:
My bro tried that as well. Turns out; "Like any hostile mob, slimes will not spawn within 24 meters sphere radius of any player. Similarly, slimes will despawn after some time if no player is within 32 meters sphere radius of it, and despawn instantly if no player is within 128 meters sphere radius." So it just adds another whole layer of difficulty to slime farming. Maybe try digging out another room, finding ores and filler materials in the meantime?
So i'm generating new worlds, and i'm using SPC to light up the caves, and TMI to give myself armor and weapons. I always wait light for when I find a cave. I find it, kill all the monsters, get to the end of it, and holyshet, there's like, seriously 4 slimes.
I think they're rare enough. If you want a redstone item that's actualle useful, TMI.
I used that slime chunk finder program online and made a 16x16x16 room and lit it up and went back to doing other things. 20 minutes later i go back to find one large slime, 2 medium slimes, and about 3 tiny slimes. So yeh, i think the spawn rate is fine how it is, the trouble is finding the chunks they spawn in. And if you don't know how to use F3 or use the online program you're basically never going to find slimes.
