My idea is that certain trees bear fruits. These trees can be planted by taking seeds from their respective fruits. Just so's you know, veggies do not grow on trees. Fruits are the seed holder things (IDK a fancy word for it) for the tree, veggies are any other part of the plant.
Now, the fruits would be: Lemons, grapes, and Opuntia (prickly pear). Lemons can be made into lemonade, made with a cup/bottle/flask, a lemon, and sugar. Grapes can be made into wine, using a cup/bottle/flask and three grapes. All three can be eaten plain.
Lemons grow on trees. The trees can only grow to be 5 blocks of wood high, no branches, and the lowest leaves have to be 2 blocks above the ground. On the bottom edge of these, small fruits grow. Punching them removes the fruit, and 1 punch is all that is needed. Lemons can be stacked up to 16, and heal 2 hearts.
Grapes grow on vines which need to have exposed sides of the block they are on to grow. So, if you plant grape seeds on a block with other blocks around it on the same level, the grape vine will not grow. Vines can grow up to 3 blocks down. Grapes appear on the dangling vines, and are removed in bundles, giving 3-5 grapes per bundle. Grapes can be stacked up to 32 in a stack. They restore .5 hearts per grape.
Opuntia is a genus of cacti that bears fruits. The cactus, when planted, does not grow vertically, but instead stays as a 1x1 "block", much like a sapling. Opuntia cacti still damage mobs, but can be placed next to each other. Opuntia grows pads out from the main block. Breaking these causes prickly pear to drop. Unlike the other fruits, Opuntias do not require watering. It heals 3 hearts of health (the real fruit is used for medicine), and cannot be stacked.
Wine/lemonade is made by combining the fruit with a cup (3 drinks), a bottle (5 drinks), or water flask (10 drinks).
Cup:
Bottle:
Water Flask: =Leather.
Lemonade heals .5 heart per drink, and wine heals 1 heart, also making you temporarily heal hearts at half the rate of peaceful healing. But, drink to much wine, and your vision will become blurred and the character will stumble to the side occasionally when walking.
Watering plants can be done in 1 of 2 ways: one, you can make a water moat in the field like you normally would, or, two, you can make a watering can, made like so: =Bucket
Right clicking on a water source gives the watering can 50 uses. The watering can is a good approach for those who want to take more care of their garden or orchard, as plants that are watered grow faster, and watering leaves causes them to grow fruit quicker. On the other hand, a moat is good for those strapped on time, as it waters plants for you.
If you fail to water your plants, fruit will be ripe in a slower time, and leaves not directly adjacent to wood blocks will wither and die.
WOOT! MORE SHOOTY STUFF!

The idea is nice, but we don't need that many. Just for example, grape vines, lemon trees, and that cactus fruit thing. Otherwise it gets too complicated for not much gain; we don't need so many new foods anyways.
I decided to keep the vines because they're not a tree and unique, lemon because "lemonade" seems cooler than apple/orange juice and gives another use for sugar/ice (if we ever get ice), and the cactus fruit because deserts need more variety.
Yeah.
I think juice should be changed, seeing as I suggest only lemon trees; firstly a bucket is too boring, perhaps a waterskin or bottle or canteen or whatever which you may fill with water, drink as water, or mix with lemons+sugar/grapes to make lemonade or wine. Water skin can be simply 4 leather in a diamond, 5 drinks, a heart each... although a heart seems too much. That would make juice heal as much as mushroom stew, and juice will probably be more common than mushrooms. Maybe 4 drinks of one heart, or 6 drinks of half a heart, etc.
