When I say RPG elemnts, I don't mean magic powers, potion creating skills, or a morality system. I mean simple stat boosts earned from doing basic things. Most of the commonly done actions can result in a boost to that action, I.E. spending a lot of time mining will give small boosts to your mining speed as time goes on, but in a balanced way, as in, even when you max the skill, should their be a cap, you won't tear down obsidian in 1/2 second with a diamond pick. I mean slowly progressing boosts, that don't really become too obvious and noticeable until they starting getting pretty high. Again, the point is to also make it balanced. Here is an example of leveling up the "Mining Skill" on your character in any world (each world will have separate stats based of what your character has done in that world):
Other Stats Could Include:
Digging
Wood Cutting
Ho-ing (No pun intended)
Fighting
Smelting
This is just an example, as those stats, depending on opinions/suggestions, CAN EASILY fluctuate drastically. I was thinking about keeping all the bonus requirements the same, I.E. 50 Digs=1% Digging Speed Boost, 150=2%, ect. for each activity. Again, this just a basic idea to give the game more structure to characters and more reasons to do these activities, criticism is expected, but try to be constructive please, and if you feel it will in no way work AT ALL, please explain why. Again, the requirements and boosts ARE BOUND to fluctuate, this was just what I came up with at the top of my head at 4:45 AM so feel free to suggest different numbers!

IT seems kinda good but what seperates it from the other hundreds of rpg ideas? everything you said has been said before you could add some spice to your idea with something a little diffrent like when you upgrade one of your skills, your other skills decreases.

I saw most RPG posts about new skills and such, but this probably has been done. It could use a little spice, but I don't like the idea of raising one skill while losing others, as once you take a break from say mining and go digging, all that mining work starts to go to waste. I'm also trying to keep it balanced, so yeah. Maybe some kind of overall ability system? If you ever played the Fallout series of games, the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system could, if modified a bit, work great in Minecraft, or at least in an RPG mode (Adventure mode?).

yes it could work in adventure their's already experience orbs in their.
Minecraft was never meant to be an RPG game, but maybe something similar to thsi for adventure mode in 1.8
I feel Survival shouldn't change at all, besides new and useful items, but I think "Adventure Mode" (Not the update, but the actual game mode) should be some type of RPG. A story is not necessary but give you character a level/progression system, NPC's to send you on quests, ect.
