I was thinking of a minecraft mode that is similar to survival shows.
Not that I'm a huge fan of them, but I thought it might make sense when put with the upcoming hardcore mode.
(You have to eat food and drink water every so minutes)
Your goal would be to find any way of escaping and surviving the kind of biome your in.
There are many ways to "win" I guess. Here are a few:
Finding an NPC village
Finding a City
Finding a minecart on a rail that eventually leads to what is above
Finding a dock and riding a boat to safety
Finding an electric pole tower thingy that leads to a city.
Successfully making it out of the biome
Creating a fire to capture the attention of a helicopter
Writing a note in a bottle, throwing it into a river, and surviving until safety arrives
On and on and on...
However only some of these solutions would obtainable in a specific biome.
For instance you can't send a bottle in a desert, or ride a boat to safety in a desert.
Once you select the mode, you have a choice for the biome you wish to survive in.
Here are a few:
Rainforest
Forest
Ocean/Tropical Islands
Underground(goal would be reaching the surface)
Snowy/Arctic
Mountainous
Desert
Savanna
After selecting your biome, you select difficulty
Easy-Same health as easy mode, milder biome(more flat, less features) eat .25 times a day, drink 1 time a day. x1 multiplier
Medium-Same health as normal mode, normal biome effects, eat .5 times a day, drink 2 times a day. x2 multiplier
Extreme-Same health as hard mode, extreme biome effects(overgrown plants, extreme heat, extreme cold) eat 1 time a day, drink 4 times a day. x5 multiplier
Drinking water time per day varies on heat
There is a bar that shows hunger, and one that shows thirst.
On each bar has two lines, you start on "Thriving", if the level goes below the first line you are "Surviving", if the level goes below the second line you are "Dying"
Obviously if the bar is completely empty you die.
FOOD DOES NOT HEAL YOU DIRECTLY IN THIS MODE!
Thriving - 5 points per second, Receive less damage, Slowly heal when receive damage
Surviving - 2 points per second, Receive normal damage, No healing
Dying - 1 point per second, Receive more damage, Slowly lose health when receive damage
There is a score system based on health
After you find safety and "win", the game pauses and your score is shown. There is a selection to continue playing, save and quit to title, or quit to title.
MULTIPLAYER!
This mode would be pretty fun in multiplayer because all of your friends would survive together.
If someone lost all health and died, they would have 10-15 seconds to be healed. This would require at least 5 hearts of food and three servings of water.
It also shows the status of players every once in a while
EX: Player1 is now "Surviving"
Player2 has died
There is also a command called /score
This command does not need op privileges, and shows the score of everyone highest to lowest.
EX:
Player1: 1,234
Player2: 1,056
Player3: 789
Total: 3,079
I'm not sure what happens when the player dies, maybe he/she can spectate other players?
OTHER INFO
More plants to eat in each biome
Different animals for each biome
Scores can be shown under a scores button on the title screen
You do not have a full inventory, only the 9 you see.
You start with 1 bowl for water, and 3 cooked porkchops
You can also drink water directly from a stream
Once you find safety, hardcore mode is off
If you have anything to add let me know, It took me a long time to do this.
Thank you for reading!
it would give minecraft a "goal," which i support, as long as it is optional. right now, you kind of just derp around, unless you play a custom map. as with all of these game changing suggestions, it has to be optional

To be honest I just thought of surviving, then the rest came on.
generation. Social experiment.
It would be it's own mode, like creative and survival.
can you drink your own ****?
