A. Please give us a slider bar in settings to set the strength of pistons. Currently a piston will push 12 blocks, let us choose how strong pistons are. For many of us, 12 blocks is far too weak. I understand too many blocks being pushed can create lag and such on people's PC's or servers, but allow us to choose. My rig can handle it.
B. Please allow us to use slimeballs (which are sticky) to stick blocks together, this way, when you push 1 block with a piston, the block directly next to it will move as well. This would make life much much easier. A simple Slimeball+Block recipe would suffice.
C. Please allow us to turn on/off in our settings, the ability for pistons to also push people up into the air. This was enabled in the "old" piston mod, why change what worked so well? Doing so would make PVP a blast, allow us to build elevators, and other great inventions.

I personally favor B, but if you didn't know, it was already suggested (by me) in this thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/421432-slimeballs-connect-blocks/page__p__5855694__fromsearch__1#entry5855694 . Your other ideas seem well thought out, but in the case of A, some people may abuse the power of the pistons and grief buildings from 50 blocks away using pistons. B, however, was an integral part of the original piston mod, and though it may or may not make pistons overpowered, it is still for Notch to decide.

I really hadn't thought that my ideas were original. Obviously, at least one of them is not so thank you for first suggesting this. I've done a lot of work lately with pistons and I find them to be both beautiful, and annoying. Overall I'm very happy they are here, I just get very frustrated at times. Probably due to my own lack of research/ignorance but there are a few things that are beyond my control and I love control. That brings me to the second part of your response. Griefing will happen with or without stronger pistons. There are far too many tools for catching griefers, stopping them from joining your server, or backing up your server every 15-20 minutes (to name a very very few) for us to allow griefers to impede upon our suggestions or notches changes to the game. Besides, server admins would set the piston strength, not the players.
I love control! The more options/settings I can work with, the better. No such thing as too much personalized customization/control.
