You know, I have been making a map, and I was just trying to think of how I could make my home look more "homely". So I thought of these four things.
1. Have a curving staircase piece. you know, one that curves the left/right and up one block. This would look really good.
2. Having staircases be able to be different blocks. Stone staircases are great and all, but what if I'm making a spooky type map with like, oh i don't know, an obsidian castle? Then I need stairs right? Well stone and wooden stairs just don't look right with it.
3. Chairs/Couches. Making the traditional chair (a wooden staircase with 2 signs on the side) is ok, but it doesn't fit the picture quite right. Having an actual place to sit (while preferably being able to look around) would go great with the NPCs in the 1.8 update! You could make things look more like a village/town.
4. Flower Pots. Whats a generic home without any small foliage in it? Maybe having flower pots isn't such a bad idea! Like I have said before, it would give a real homely feeling to the whole game, and make you more comfortable in your house. I usually just make a house to get away from monsters, craft, cook, and sleep. I want more than that!

Staircases of any block (and chairs, tables, and most decorative items) can be created with the Eighth Block mod.

Hypothetical: You read a thread in the Suggestions forum. You suddenly realize you've seen the idea before. Maybe it's a duplicate? No. Maybe it's just you? No. Maybe it's been done already? Very likely: Click here if there's a mod for that.
