Well hi guys long time fan of minecraft love the game... Now that the games beta is comming to a close in the next prolly 6 months i decided to get my few two cents in.
future Realisitc game mode should be realistic in the games eviroment and how the mobs interact with you.
These are some featues I think minecraft could benifit from.
Mind you if these were implemented they could be customizable in single player.
1: Realistic water physics. Basically the water in this game is so unrealistic its rather funny.
As seen in the mod finite liquid. Water would actually be able to spread and fill entire caverns. if u decided to dig under a ocean and woosh your dead.. lava and other liquids would behave similar just slower.
2: realsitic plant and tree, life to death cycle: trees would grow grow grow and after a long time they would die.. sprout a few sappplings nd posibly having a 10% chance to hav those sapplings actually plant themselves.
3:reaslitic mob behaviour and mob restrictions : Ai would be intelligent but not too smart they are animals and undead.. also.. zombies should not be able to swim nor should skeletons.. theyare undead aferall.
Optional graphical enahncements: this can be supported through mod support. but a few things i think should be native to the game are.
GLSL shaders IE: AA, V-sync, Wind physics (to possibly blow and carry sapplings across great distances)
Real Weather effects: This comes back to the Water ideaa somewhat. Basically when it rains depending on how long it rains the it could slightly or greatly fill holes in the ground or even flood areas... Although if you are hit with a heat wave that water will eithier dry up over time having no running source of water flowing or.. dry up quickly cause its blazing hot. also when it snows it would actually effect the world around it.. (snow gets created on blocks and if its cold enough can freeze water)
Seasonal changes: Snow, fall and summer and spring nd weather would change and have a real efect on the world around it. snow, makes snow, rain makes water. and also depending on seasonal changes. grass and leaves would turn from a light green to a nice yellow color as u go from spring to summer and finally die in the winter.. more windy in the spring and winter.. even the possibility for blizzards . thunder storms could cause lightining and have asmall chance to cause forrest fires or even grass fires..
the introduction of a 4th basic tool the Axe, now like a pickaxe depending on quality of the axe and the type of tree .. wood chopping could be fast or very slow.. Diamond axes could chop oak trees and even be used as stone based pickaxes.
The creation of minerals by mixing certain elements together IE: creation of obsidian and cobbletone ..I feel this process is too fast.. lava should be allowed to settle and dry before it can be generated into a certain type of mineral.. this could also be expanded to allow dynamic level changing over time.. as lava flows makes new mineral depositis of gold, redstone or w/e..
All these addtions paired up with the already 1.8 future updtes would make this game Truely awesome. and one of a kind.
I hope someone somewhere takes into consideration my ideas..
Thank you sincerly

PS I am not native in the english language so my pelling might be a litle off.. My apologies
Wow you really thought hard and long into the game, thinking and posting what should be in the game and how realistic it should be. While i agree with most of your statements, minecraft is supposed to be a simple game, building blocks and mining ores, when you put so much in a simple game, it well, doesn't get simple anymore. Also while this will make the player more aware of where they are, (for eg, where they build their house so when it rains it doesn't get flooded.) But to be honest putting a lot in this game will make it a lot more complicated, and though yes minecraft does need to be a bit realistic, if it gets too complicated it won't be really ''minecraft'' anymore.
Im just mumbling now, but there's also the factor that it might make the game more graphic intense, etc, etc.
If notch does take some of your ideas into mind it won't probably be until the 2.0 update.
Anyway, thanks for your post!

Given the simplicity of this game and how pixilated it is I doubt these changes would increase the framerate all that much.
I mean Notch has already made some weather effects. Rain and thunderstorms why not just expand on that idea.. to include.. seasons.. and more weather types... as for the water physics and wind physics.. and tree life and deathe.. these would be awesome improvements but really would still keep the game pretty simple.. I mean your still building blocks and mining the same way it would just add more spice to the slow brewing stew that is minecraft.
Although to keep frames rates down players should have the option.. to toggle between my uggestions and classic play (how the game is now with no changes).. just so it still keeps the same audience and gurantees no loss in player base due to peopple disliking the changes.
I mean lumber axes.. and a quality based mining level as u et better quality lumber axes. similar to how the better quakity the pickaxe the faster and more types of rock u can mine.. same idea just expanded to include wood as well..
