Minecraft should have abandoned ancient civilizations.
The villages would be abandoned huts made from wool. There would be from 2 - 5 huts in each village. Each hut has a chest on the inside. It holds artifacts, such as nearly broken tools, bones, wood, cobblestone, and pork. A village is very rare to find, so it's pretty much dungeons of the over world. The villages were made for a reason - either it was nearby surface lava, or a cave with precious gems. If it was a cave, that cave's ores should be ridden of. Cave paintings could be found of humans with spears, ghasts, creepers, pigmen, and skeletons and zombies. Destroying them would yield normal cobblestone. Those caves would also have pre-placed torches.
Small quarries can be found in the villages. They are marked on all four side by a single fence post. The villages can also have placed torches and a partially burnt out mass of logs. In the distance of the village, some trees can be seen cut down. Beneath the village, you can find a new stone block like an ore, but instead it has bones. Destroying it will yield from 1-10 bones. They come in medium sized veins, like iron ore.
Other signs of old life could be found in the villages. What do you think?

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…
It sounds alright, but we already have NPC villages and ruins coming in 1.8. I would suggest applying the ideas of the ancient villages to the planned NPC villages. However, I think the cave paintings idea sounds cool. Ancient creepers!

Nice try, though.
It's a suggestion for the 1.8 adventure update. I know there are ruins, but by the look of it, they don't look like abandoned NPC villages.
I'm suggesting they are NPC villages, but from ancient times. There is no life so you can uncover their bones and take their materials.
