Well if Notch is going so far as to add NPC Villages and other characters to interact with, it would be great if he could add different types of NPC's. The Same NPC's over and over again with the same houses and faces would get really irritating. Really fast. So I came up with the Idea of different types of NPC's. For Example:
Working Class
- Houses made of mainly wood.
- Chests contain: wooden tools, wooden blocks, porkchop, fish
- Not instantly Aggressive.(They attack when you take just one item from any chest, Break a block of their house or attack a civillian.)
- Common.
- Poor defenses. (when attacked they have low health and do not hit hard)
Wealthy Class
- Houses made of Cobble and Logs.
- Chests contain: Stone (Rarely Iron) tools, cobble blocks, buckets, cooked porkchop, cooked fish.
- Not Instantly aggressive (They attack when you take just one item from any chest, Break a block of their house or attack a civillian.)
- Uncommon.
- Medium Defenses.
Royalty
- Forts made of Cobble, Iron and Gold.
- Chests contain: Gold (Extremely Rarely Diamond) Tools, Bows/Arrows, Armour (Varying materials), Ingots (Iron/Gold), Apple, Golden Apple. (more Ideas?)
- Aggressive when you enter their Fort.
- Rare
- Strong Defenses.
Pirates
- Their "Village" is a wooden ship. The ship would spawn in any body of water that is more than 30x50 blocks large in ships. the ships can be varying sizes (to indicate the amount of loot or difficulty)
- Ships made from wood.
- Chests contain: Gold (Extremely Rarely Diamond) Tools, Bows/Arrows, Armour (Varying materials), Ingots (Iron/Gold), Apple, Golden Apple. (what royalty has and more. because they are the hardest to fight.)
- Aggressive when you go near their ship.
- Extremely Rare.
- Incredibly strong Defenses.
Tribal
- Housing is made from dirt/sand/wood
- No chests but they drop food and weapons of stone and wood.
- Aggressive as soon as you enter their line of sight. (Mob behavior)
- Common.(Less common than working class)
- Medium defenses.
And their could be many more. So put your ideas here similar to this format and i will add the ones in that seem to appeal to everyone. I personally think this is how the NPC's should be made but i would like to see what notch would do differently.
Oh god, oh god NOOOOOO.
I don't quite like the idea of being able to simply loot your good, already that I don't quite agree with NPC villages... You could simply burn the pirate ship as chests are non-flamable (last time I checked)
I like me except for the pirates....add vikings instead of pirates.
Vikings live in forts. in the fort there is a bunch of houses with a giant fire in the middle of the village.
these guys wont hesitate to attack you so stay away from them unless you want a fight!
EDIT: Vikings love to live in the middle of dense forests!

Checking already gives you 25% addiction.
